So basically I am not really on my GC’s good side this year, but I was wondering how I could turn it around because I still feel like I have a chance. Every time I see him around school I make sure to say hi, but last week when he was holding the crosswalk sign in the morning to help us cross, when i said thank you he did not say and seemed kind of pissed?
I’ve been told that there should be a limit to someone’s dislike for you as long as you keep being polite…what are some other things I could do to show him I’m a better student than he thinks?
Be proactive. Work hard, set up meetings, ask good questions, and do your research. Your counselor probably doesn’t want to answer questions that are easily answered with the internet. Also, I doubt one instance of a lack of a thank you puts you on his bad side. Best of luck!
Be nice,
be sincere,
and volunteer in projects that he supervises or where he needs student help. Don’t be a kiss up! Don’t bring him items (coffee, bagels, etc).
He may have been pissed because he had to deal with awful parent and student drivers who don’t follow traffic rules. Your saying “thank you” may have been interpreted differently if it was a bad traffic day.
