Ughh. I really need to raise this low GPA because I want to go to Cornell University. I’m in my 2nd semester as a freshman.
I am taking 2 online honors classes right now. All my classes are honors and I have one AP(Human Geography). I just really want to raise the GPA! >.<
3.2 is fine if you’re just a freshman, what you want to do to ensure that you’re able to maintain As most of your classes is be cautious about either taking too many classes or taking too many hard classes. While it’s good to have rigor, it’s not good to take off more than you can chew.
How many classes are you currently taking including your two online courses? Have you picked out your classes for next year?
Set realistic goals for yourself. I remember in freshman year I had a 3.0, and I planned to get a 99 average in all of my classes sophomore year. That didn’t work out. Plan to have a 3.6+ this semester so you can have a 3.4 or higher freshman year, and then try to get a 3.8-4.0 in sophomore year, and then 4.0s for junior and senior year.
Basically all that can be said is study hard, take as many hard classes as you can handle ( note the handle part), and maybe stop taking those two online classes? Maybe those classes are taking too much of your time, and if you stopped taking them you could do better in your other classes. Just prioritize, Good Luck!!!
i take 7 classes right now + plus my 2 online ones = 9 classes
I’m planning on taking alot of AP’s
Realistic goals and motivation. You still have time. Be sure to consider taking dual enrollment or AP classes, if you’re 100% positive you can handle them. If you do bad in these, it will bring your GPA down. Just aim for all A’s, a few B’s are okay though. Just stay motivated and don’t let yourself fall behind! If you need help, go to tutoring and study extra. Do not let it slide!
I have actually I’m taking a bunch of AICE - Cambridge classes
AICE General Paper
AICE Marine Science
AICE Thinking Skills
Honors Pre -Calculus
AICE International History
AICE Sociology
Honors Chinese 2
For sophmore year
If you don’t know what AICE is:
it’s basically college level courses
Get higher grades
AICE is the equivalent of Cambridge’s AS Levels. It’s AP level but with a greater variety of topics.
You need to aim at 3.6/3.7 THIS semester. Therefore, target the classes where you need to improve the most and those where you can improve most easily, and take a tutor for all of these.
Don’t try to take fifteen billion AICE and AP classes. You only need a total of 4-8 by the end of senior year. You DO need As in them though.
You should have 4 years each of English, Math, Science, Social Science, and Foreign Language, plus other classes you choose because you really like them.
You should have, if possible, physics, biology, and chemistry, plus one at the AP level. If you don’t, you can offset that by taking two foreign languages at a high level or taking a post-AP (2nd semester or sophomore level) college class at a real college.
Then see what EC you’re doing has the most potental for you and try to become the best at it.
