How to send your kids to college free or almost free

Short summary of some of the colleges/scholarships available for free tuition and more.

I don’t normally open links here. But this article contains no surprises. It does include the service academies, and those excellent but very competitive full ride scholarships…and a list of the work colleges.

The student and parents need to fully keep in mind…most of these scholarships are NOT guaranteed. Admission to the service academies and work colleges is not guaranteed.

Having said that, if one of these works for you…that is great…and this article could help students in casting a wide net when significant aid is needed.

This thread might help others too.

The links provided in the thread posted by @thumper1 are a good beginning place; however, it can require a lot of research to create a comprehensive list of schools that match your students’ abilities and interests.

Another source that includes 100s of schools is http://www.mykidscollegechoice.com/full-scholarship-list/ or this merit list https://meritscholarshiplist.com/membership-account/membership-levels/ , neither of which are free, but may be worth their low cost considering the $100s of thousands that can be saved. (I have used the former, but not the latter.)

@Mom2aphysicsgeek

How much do those cost?

The first link’s list costs $8 and she sends out updates for free for 12 months. The second link is $5 for 1 month, $10 for 3 months, or $30 for 12 month access.
