How to start registered business as a high schooler?

Hey I have a question
Hey guys,I’m a 16 year old rising junior who would like to go to Wharton. I wanted to start my own business and register it with the IRS and etc. But they said I am not old enough I have to be 18 to be an incorporator so I was wondering how teenagers are able to make their own business.

So can someone please explain to me how I can make my own business? ? I’m from New York by the way if that affects anything.

Much appreciated!

I’ve also wanted to make my own business. I am a rising junior too. Other than that, I have no idea where to start a business.

Have one. Here’s what you need to do:

1) Get your parent(s) to agree to be an officer of the business
2) go to your state web site for businesses or google <state>, biz, incorporation. Forms are probably online
3) Go with parent(s) to an attorney to set up corporation and advise which is best to limit everyone’s liability (LLC, S Corp, etc)
4) speak to an accountant as to QuickBooks, business bank account, etc</state>

NOTE: Put together a business plan!! Until you have one, don’t bother with the rest.

Good Luck!

Thank You Chargers

See if you can get something started in your school’s FBLA club. We have several small start-up companies.
