How to study for AP English Lang & Honors Algebra II?

Thank goodness for this website! I think this forum might just save my sanity (or what’s left of it, anyways).

I was wondering how others who are taking/took AP English Lang and Honors Algebra II manage to get good grades in those classes? I mean, I’m a good student, but these classes are crushing me.

English, particularly, has got me stumped. I don’t do really well on the quizzes, but I’m doing really well on the essays. How did you go about memorizing all the grammar terms?

Algebra II… I’m attending all the lectures and doing all the lessons, even reading through the textbook when I’m confused on something, but the thing is, I’m still confused. I’ve gotten a good grade, but I don’t feel that I’m learning anything. It’s more like I’m just struggling through every quiz, trying to grab as many points as I can, rather than actually learning things. How did you guys study the material for Algebra II?

Thanks in advance for any replies/advice. Time to return to pulling my hair out until I graduate.

Quizlet for vocabulary and Khan Academy for math.

English in general is hard to study for (unless to study for a test on a book). You just have to continue your reading to get good at English skills. While you read (anything, really, but preferably age-level and advanced-level), take note of rhetorical devices, vocabulary, language . . . just surround yourself with high-level vocabulary, and research online to see grammar terms and understand them.
