Take the dream job.

Seriously…what parent or college grad would think this was a good idea???

[Millennials Now Bringing Their Parents Along On Job Interviews](<a href=“HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost”>Millennials Now Bringing Their Parents Along On Job Interviews | HuffPost Impact)

The 13% of grads who state they got their jobs through a parent connection seems like a statistic that could apply to any generation. It has always been said that it isn’t what you know but who you know when it comes to getting a job. Only now we have linked in to help.

So, my son went on the interview for the “dream job”; they din’t give an immediate offer, but told him he would be hearing from HR next week. So now what? He is supposed to start the other job next week. If he had an offer in hand he would jump, but he doesn’t know what to do with a probable but not yet there offer. Sigh. Too. Much. Stress.

Start the other job. If the new one comes through, consider it. Wouldn’t make long term lodging arrangements for the first job if possible. What a pain, hurry up, guys, tell him one way or another!

OMG!!! DS just offered dream job at double the salary of the other job. Taking it!!

Congratulations to both of you! :)

Congrats dkitty21! And it’s on Friday The 13th too!

Yay! That is great.

Yeah!!! Most awesome indeed!

Yippeee for dkitty’s son!

wonderful news and great timing

Congrats Dkitty! I’m so glad it worked out.

Such great news!!! Happy Friday the 13th. Its always been a good day for me-- and now for you too!!

Hurrah, dkitty!

For those still in the hunt, DD got a second call from a screening interview last week, and got a first call from another company. She is staying where she is, but things seem to be happening.

Congrats to DKitty’s son! Glad it all worked out!

I am in shock–S3 has been with his company (a start up that seems to be doing very well) for a bit less than two months. Last week he was at HQ for some training --and he must have done really really well-- because he was just given a huge promotion, and the raise that goes with it.

He is no longer in an entry level position. He is hiring for his replacement as well as others for that level, and will have a huge number of people working under him.

If anyone knows someone interested in either operations or grassroots / community marketing, especially in DC but in other large cities as well, please PM me.

Wow! Such great employment news! Congratulations to dkitty’s son and boysx3’s S3! Nice to hear positive employment stories.

It’s back to the drawing board for my son.

The wireless phone company’s manager told him he would get back to him last week. He was still waiting for the approval to hire him as a new rep for the new store they opened up. After hearing nothing, my son called him yesterday and was told the manager didn’t get the approval due to budgeting restrictions. So obviously since he couldn’t hire my son, why even bother getting back to him to tell him the bad news. My son thinks the manager knew all along he wouldn’t get the approval. I think it is for the best as I wouldn’t want him to work for this guy…plus the Super Walmart across the street sells three different companies’ wireless plans and cell phones, and Radio Shack also has wireless plans.

I just spoke with a dad whose dtr from the same HS class had to relocate to NC to get her first teaching job. A few recent college grads I know here in Upstate NY have to substitute as there are no teaching positions available. My grandson’s teacher is new, and she was one of 200 applicants for the position! She is very lucky.

Looking for advice: S looking for first full time position. Wants to move to Boston from home in NY Metro area. Just got a response to a job posting he applied to online. Want him to come in for an interview on Thursday. Jobs sounds like it could have potential.

What would you do? Should S hop on a train and go to Boston for the interview? Could he explain that he is in the process of relocationg and ask for a first interview on the phone or via skype? Don’t want to ruin his chances by appearing unavailable, but is it realistic to make the trip every time he gets a little bite on his resume?
