How valuable is the regents scholarship??

Now that all the admission decisions have come in, I have narrowed down my choices to between UC Santa Barbara and UC Davis. At Davis I was admitted for regents and honors while at SB I was admitted with honors only.

Given that I am looking to apply to medical school as a biology major, how important would being a regents scholar be in that application? While the money associated with the scholarship is also important, I don’t want to let that be the thing making my decision for me.

Thanks!

I have no idea about the Regents Scholar issue (I expect it would matter diddly squat to med schools), but I cannot see any reason for picking Santa Barbara over Davis unless you r plan is to surf rather than study.

How much money?

https://www.ucdavis.edu/cost/scholarships/regents/ describes the Regents scholarship at UCD.

In terms of applications for graduate study, a Regents would be on a list of awards and honors but I don’t think it would make a big difference for admission, especially for out-of-state universities. At other UCs, people will at least have heard of the Regents. Your GPA will be a more important part of the application. You should consider the financial effect of the Regents, especially if you expect to cover the cost of med school – but an important consideration is where you would feel more comfortable and do your best work.
