How Will You Spend Tomorrow??? (November 3rd)

DH and I will vote this morning, then head to Krispy Kreme for our free doughnuts.

Then DH will work from home. Since it’s a beautiful day here, I plan to spend much of the day clearing brush and vines from the HOA common ground, because volunteer labor is how much of that gets done.

DS recommended “A Mighty Wind” as a movie to watch tonight, so we’ll do that.

No one on TV or Twitter knows what will happen, and they have another 24-72 hours to talk and tweet nonstop about it anyway. About as useful as listening to Cramer on MSNBC predicting stock movement, or listening to sports announcers predicting the results of a football game. The signal to noise ratio in the coverage is infinitesimal.

Cast my vote a few weeks ago.

I’ll be working most of the day and trying to keep away from news and social media as much as possible. This evening I plan to find the most mindless movie comedies I can possibly think of and lose myself in sophomoric humor.

Plan on enjoying a few cocktails, for sure. Either celebratory or not. I refused to buy anything “special” for fear of jinxing anything.

We only have a couple of old bottles of wine that people have given us over the years not knowing my wife and I don’t really drink. Definitely not stored properly. Less than 5 drinks in our house in about 20 years. See no reason to start tonight. Or later this week or whenever.

Everyone who is eligible to vote in our house has already voted. Husband has work and it’s an important week at work so he works from wake until sleep this week with no break. My daughter’s college’s students (her included) are on strike, so we plan to hike, cook, watch tv, and avoid the news and social media for the rest of the week.

Election Day is my Super Bowl. I usually have a favored candidate, but value a close match more so than a victory. Ideally, this thing will get drawn out for MONTHS. How riveting that would be!

But I fear this election will have the impact of a wet firework…just the next thing to be 2020’d. The winner will most likely be obvious very early in the night. But never lost a wink of sleep over an election, and this will be no different.

I always channel surf, but mostly watch John King on the board. There’s no one better.

I voted early. I’m working today. H is picking up pizza, we’ll watch the news tonight and I have a virtual watch party with a group of like minded folks. I’m sure the family chat group will be buzzing too.

Praying for a peaceful night and week to come.

I got lucky. I just got in and out of the polling location in 16 minutes. I’m in a new state so that included registration!

If you are surprised by lines, then you MUST not be watching news lately! I believe as of yesterday the number of people who early voted was 75% of the total vote in 2016.

I don’t generally drink. However carbs like some nachos or french fries could be my vice of the night.

I think we are going for take out pizza and bourbon here.

I am pretty sure my vow not to follow news tonight isn’t going to hold. I have some wine ready.

Voted by mail weeks ago. Technically, I am working, but in reality, I’ll be refreshing news and twitter all day. I have so much nervous energy. I am going to take my dogs for a long walk and will meet a friend for tennis this afternoon to try to work some of it off.

Since D1 was in active labor in the hospital as of 9pm last night–I’ll be waiting for texts and pictures from the hospital this morning and working on quilts the rest of the time.

I don’t plan to watch election returns, though I will tune in the local news at 10 pm.

I voted absentee 3 weeks ago and tracked my ballot. It was received and processed.

Exact same plans! Plus fretting with my close friends via group text during the returns and drinking bourbon.

I might go out for a long run this afternoon if work is a bust.

My precinct never makes the news.

Well, maybe if a car hits a deer.

As far as voting is concerned, with other elections in the past we’ve seen news reports of lines, but here there can be no-one except the poll workers, and we tend to chat for quite a few minutes catching up beyond voting.

Today I learned there are roughly 1300 registered voters within the precinct. Our population is about 2500+/- (discussion while waiting). Generally it’s a “high” count if 4-500 or so vote. The highest number I’ve ever had has been in the low 200s and that’s if I vote after the school day ends. Polls are open from 7am-8pm.

On the news PA was the one (of four) battleground states where the number of early voters was less than the majority of 2016 voters. “Credit” was given to our legal issues. Today while in line people were saying they wanted to be sure their vote counted. Same for us actually.

I’m clearly much more of a news junkie than some here! Too much of my life probably wasted there but in the current climate, I CANNOT not stay updated.

(BTW, it’s ok if you don’t consume much news and it is ok if you do. This is not an area of bragging rights).

Eh, I was using too many words to say our area rarely follows the trends in the news.

I’ve seen the news. It’s why we got there 10 minutes early instead of 15-20 minutes after the polls opened like we usually do. We expected “more” than normal. We underestimated how much more. If it’s that way here, I can’t imagine what more populated areas in our state are going to be like. Will everyone even get a chance to vote? How many will give up due to not wanting to (or being able to) wait? Some, indeed, left this morning, but not many.

I was #53, so figuring 50/hr it would take 26 hours for all 1300 to get through the line if everyone chose to vote today. There’s 11 hours available (though anyone in line by 8 can still vote). I’ve no idea how many sent in ballots. I know one did - my lad.

I just had such a fun time voting at our local elementary school this morning! (no students present).

Saw so many neighbors & community people I know. I loved that! the lawyer who was on jeopordy; the retired police officer being forced to work elections; the prof of twins who were in my Girl Scout troop; the parents of kids we knew from soccer, dance, school; OH- the parents of the IVY football player (who is not at his school of course this year; everyone is proud of him!); etc. I am social, so this filled a need; and everyone seemed so pleasant. What a nice start to our day!

Now - listening to instrumental soundtracks and meeting up with a friend outside. No News purposely here.

@WayOutWestMom : Good luck to your laboring daughter!

Dropped my ballot in the box at town hall last week.

Working and then playing piano today. No TV. We’re not going to know the results tonight, anyway.

Everyone in my house voted by dropping our ballots off in a nearby ballot box a couple of weeks ago. I’ll be working this morning and then will try to keep myself occupied with errands and household chores the rest of the day. I’m sure I won’t be able to resist turning on the election coverage this evening–my husband and I are both news junkies. I don’t drink, but I do have plenty of leftover Halloween candy!
