How Will You Spend Tomorrow??? (November 3rd)

I’m going to try to work on my own writing tomorrow. We’ll see how that goes. I always feel like i have to work on my teaching/grading, but not even going to try tomorrow. That’s the plan, anyway.

Then alternate drinking/eating junk with a huge dollop of fretting in front of the TV, probably while livestreaming my favorite podders, checking Twitter, more fretting.

(already voted.)

I am going to a small shop and buying muck boots and then I plan to take the new wild dog on a long walk in the forest. Grocery shopping will also come into play. I think I may watch some light British tv at night to stay sane.

Already voted, NOT watching tv. I keep telling my mom and DH that other than casting our ballots, there is nothing we can do to change the outcome so there isn’t a point to handwringing, swearing or worrying and it is best to just wait it out in as stress-free way as possible.

Wow, I have to say I’m really surprised that so many have the fortitude to stay away from the news. I admit, I can’t. :frowning:

BUT, very interesting to hear the variety of activities out there!

I already voted. I will be working, and not watching the news, because it stresses me out and I can’t stand it. I still will be getting updates from H who feels he must tell me what is going on. I am considering having an adult beverage - I’ve been dieting so haven’t had one in a month, but it may be worth the calories tomorrow.

I already voted. I worked all last weekend for a deadline today so I’m going to try to take it easy tomorrow. I’ve got a couple of work related errands, but my plan is to take clean the office, get some fresh air, avoid my cleaning woman and probably fixate more than is healthy on the news.

Having already voted, I plan to read the whole paper, play two sessions of online bridge, walk, cook, maybe make a grocery store run, and listen to my audiobook. I’m sure the TV will be on in the background much of the day, and definitely at night.

And, of course, check CC. I’m amazed that, while it’s disappointing we couldn’t discuss political implications of current events, we have done well remaining civil and interesting.

I’ve voted.
I will start the day by getting my wife’s car inspected (we realized on Sunday the current sticker expired on Saturday.

I will work a full day, go play soccer and go to my local bar for a recovery beverage. I have no idea if I will watch election coverage there.

I will come home and watch a little bit

H and I voted by mail and confirmed receipt of our ballots. He’s supposed to return tomorrow from repairing storm damage but may have to postpone another day.

There’s a two page To Do list on the kitchen counter, so I have no excuse for not finding something useful to do tomorrow. I may also watch the Japanese episode of GBBO again while working on a Christmas garland that I never got around to completing last year.

I will probably feel compelled to check election coverage in the evening, but can’t stay up late tomorrow. No idea how long it may be before we have an official final result.
The evening will likely end with either an adult beverage or a Valium. No matter what happens, there will sadly be some division within our family.

Tomorrow’s my day off. I voted by mail 2 weeks ago and verified that it was received and it will be counted. I will probably do some housecleaning and grading and then turn on the news. My regular bedtime is about 2:30 am Eastern so I’ll have the opportunity to see lots or election coverage. Depending on how things go, I’ll probably be riveted or horrified. There’s no in between. I generally don’t drink, but I might tomorrow.

Regular day. At night plan to watch Sarah Cooper’s Netflix show.

Already voted. I am interested to see if local propositions will pass. Local businesses all boarded up. I hope no riots and looting will take place.

Voted early a couple weeks ago. Planning my usual fun-filled Tuesday of curbside grocery pick up, 25+ miles cycling, cleaning the bathrooms, and occasionally checking news online. Won’t have the TV on until after dinner when we will watch some Netflix and chill (and probably fail to resist the temptation to check news online again). Have a bottle of Prosecco in the frig leftover from our anniversary party and have Scotch in the liquor cabinet in case the mood is not celebratory.

I have to say I’m laughing (in a good way) at the number of posts that include “drinking some wine (or bourbon or scotch or what have you).”

I see no reason whatsoever to indulge in healthy coping skills on one of the most important nights of our lives. I’m so stressed I don’t know how I’m going to get through the evening without some liquid courage. I’m just not as strong as many others. I do realize that we may not know the result for a few days. And that really makes me want a big glass of cabernet.

Take care everyone. “God bless America, land that I love.”

I’m in the midst of making mango chutney from some green mangoes I picked from H’s family home. I just got all the ingredients yesterday and am very excited to be able to make this. I’ve never made jams or jellies before so am hoping it turns out as delicious as we hope. It is a favorite around our home and it’s increasingly difficult to purchase the chutney we like with the balance of sweet, tangy, and other flavors we favor.

I will do my best not to worry—voted the weekend we got our ballots and dropped them in the ballot drop box. They have been received per the app. Not sure how much I will pay attention to the news.

Well I’m still up at 2am so not a good sign for my day tomorrow. I have done a good job not being anxious…until now. Have errands and chores and Netflix and walks by the ocean. Will turn on tv at 10pm or so I think.

Voted. After an early appt, will have the news on all day. It’s the commentary that interests me most, the political and historical perspectives.

Will probably sort and shred more file boxes, that’s cathartic, for me. Don’t think I can have more than one alcoholic drink, so already trying to decide what that will be.

I’m voting in less than an hour. We thought about voting early, but with PA’s many court issues potentially going after the election, we (and apparently many others) opted to wait to today.

Then I’m coming home and watching med school lad’s email while he’s TAing an Anatomy Lab all day. Residency Interview invites are still coming in and for many places he’s applied to, those slots go quickly (20 minutes for a couple of them).

Today and for most of the next week I’ll have the news on, both domestic and BBC. I rarely care a hoot about politics, esp 2 - 18 months out, but when the election is actually upon us, I care. I’ve never watched a Super Bowl (proud of that fact at this point), but I’ve never missed watching a Presidential election night (proud of that too).

I’ll also be watching the stock market. I tend to make a bit on its volatility. It’s become my pandemic self appointed “job” since I decided not to return to school. I make more on the stock market usually. H has asked if I want to switch jobs…

ps We were discussing last night how it makes us feel quite honored to be in the state many are saying is the decision-making state for this election. We’ll contribute 5 votes in one direction. (H, myself, 2 boys, one DIL. 4/5 are in person votes - med school lad sent his in for obvious reasons.)

Voted by mail, the safest way to vote this year. I’m going to remove the vegetation on a steep slope in my backyard, hoping for a landslide. Landslide normally would create a mess, but somehow I think it’s better than the alternative this year.

Wow… we’re rural. Voting has never taken long in our precinct. A 15 minute wait would have been unheard of. This morning we got there 10 minutes early and waited an hour and 15 minutes to vote. At Disney World we won’t wait that long for a ride! There were oodles more behind us than in front of us. People were parking in fields and alongside the road after the parking lot filled up (which I’ve never seen happen in the 20+ years we’ve lived here).

What a wild ride. I can only imagine what cities are like. I’m very interested in seeing what the percentage voting ends up at.
