Yes, kualoa is right across from the ocean and close to sea level. They’re all hoping that the storm will continue to be sheared by wind shear and go away from the islands. Ports are being closed so no supplies for 7-14 days!
Very serious storm. Costco is sold out of all beverages (non-alcoholic).
I hope folks remember that their hot water tanks can be drained for water.

Yes, people are really quite calm. They are planning to brace and shelter in place. We are all hoping for the storm to change direction, continue turning away from our state.

Thanks—folks are prepared/preparing and very calm. We are hoping it continues to weaken and keeps turning away from our state.
LANE continues to slowly weaken and is currently projected NOT to directly hit our state. Storm surge and flooding is projected to cause the most damage according to the most recent update 20 minutes ago.
Wind is decreasing from 130mph to 125 now to 120mph.
Lane - stay away from our favorite islands!!!
Oahu is on tropical storm warning/watch, downgraded from hurricane. Some of the other islands will have more wind than Oahu.
Still waiting to see the storm turn away from the state—if not, lots more damage than if it performs expected turn away from state.
Storm is now down to a Cat 3. Hoping it continues to weaken.
@HImom - When things calm down a bit, it would be great if you could post recommendations for donations for disaster relief. I prefer to chip in with local organizations.
Big Island continues to have lots vndblots of rain, with some catastrophic flooding.
Lane has turned north, maybe a little northeast, and is weakening rapidly. This is where the people on the islands start to get nervous because the storm will move right up to the islands but then make a right-angle turn to the west. Every model shows this drastic change in direction. It’s only a matter of how far north the eye gets before the turn.
Rainfall totals will be “Biblical” on the eastern slopes of Hawaii and Maui.

Yippee, LANE is breaking up and slowing. It’s now down to a category 1 or 2 hurricane from 4. It is expected not to directly hit any of our islands.
Oh wow. Good news, indeed. Fingers crossed that the flooding will be minimized.
