Many extroverts view online forums as another venue for social hobnobbing so it’s not an either/or thing regarding socializiing IRL and online. I speak as one…albeit one who is on the border on the E/I spectrum…but on two Myers-Brigg testings, definitely lean on the E side.

However, my ideal social interaction is IRL, ideally with congenial people. :)

^^^^^Ha ha, may be. I know DH would NEVER spend a moment of his time on CC or any other message board. The computer is for work and email. Life is found on the “outside.”

I don’t post here very frequently but any talk about Myers-Briggs certainly gets my attention. My son has recently turned me into a MB aficionado. I am an INFJ and he is an ENFP so it’s a pretty interesting combination with some fascinating and deep conversations I attribute to our NF side but also many-many P-J battles because I am 100% J and he is 80% P.

Adding into atomom and harvestmoon1 - the INTJ in me wants to remind everybody that you’re not supposed to just list your name / type and that it’s far more efficient way to copy the list and add your own info in each time, and we INTJ’s love efficiency :-)

I have known about this for a long time. actually had a conversation with a person found very difficult. She was in banking and said this info was used in getting on in the workplace. What motivates us. She is motivated by getting things done, no matter the process, I am motivated by caring, protecting, that is why I found her so abrasive. Once I knew this no longer took her so personally ad could actually like her. I think it was the Eanegram (sic)
I am perceived as being very comfortable in social situations, but I dread them particularly at work, because they are so cliquey (sorry sic) and make me very uncomfortable. I had a serious illness 3 years ago and find I need a lot of recharging time, it is a requirement. I prefer conversations with strangers as well,(elevators, stores) and connection.
Bookworm, when I have conversations on planes or elsewhere, I think it is grace intervening, I think you really helped her.

downtoearth, count me in with your INFj. I cannot seem to copy when on iPad.

I mentioned that airplane ride because it was so unusual for me. The young gal kept repeating, “I cannot believe I’m sharing all this.” Unlike so many of my clients, this woman was bright, had supportive family, good career path, and certainly did not need to settle or rush into a marriage with so many red flags. I wish I knew how her life turned out.

Both the INTP/INFP descriptions fit me perfectly, except where they conflict, in which case it really depends on the situation. I’m going to go with INTP for the purposes of this list.

The Enneagram is pretty interesting, especially since it’s so darned mathematical, it’s almost too elegant to be true, and too elegant not to be!

Again, as with INFP/INTP, I am squarely between 4w5 and 5w4, although it’s a little clearer here - I’m probably a stronger 4 than 5.
