I am in shock-orlando terror attack

this is shocking and sad and I am at a loss for words

FBI suspects radical Islamist. Press conference at 9:300am.

Shades of the Paris nightclub attack.

Sickening

Huh, none of the coverage I’ve seen suggests radical Islamist. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

The police have used the words “domestic terrorism” and have said that the attacker was possibly motivated by a religious ideology. They haven’t mentioned a specific religion.

As with every other mass atrocity, it will take a while for some remotely accurate account of the events to emerge, after several inaccuracies are reported by the media as fact. Remember Sandy Hook and how they originally reported the wrong person as the shooter?

Absolutely horrible.

Glad that the shooter was killed so we don’t have to house that horrible person for the rest of his life.

A day or so ago, a The Voice former contestant was killed after her performance while (I think) she was signing autographs.

Watching CNN and Fox. Saw police say that there are signs that this was Islamic terrorism. CBS saying suspect was Omar Mateen, from Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Sadly, this sort of thing no longer shocks me as they are becoming regular news.

So so tragic. I have family close to Orlando and I’ve vacationed there - this hits close to home for me.

What makes this any different from any other mass murder carried out in the US even if the shooter was a Muslim?

Shooter is American who was born in New York and lives now in Port St. Lucie Fla.

According to what I just heard it’s being called an act of terrorism because of the number of casualties.

I can’t say I am at all shocked. I am very sad, however.

When I heard “domestic terrorism,” and with all the recent anti-LGBTQ rhetoric I’ve been hearing/reading lately, I was expecting to find out that this was perpetrated by a fanatic right wing Christian lone wolf. However, it sounds as if it is of another variety of fanaticism. I’m sure it is irrelevant to the loved ones of the killed and injured.

"What makes this any different from any other mass murder carried out in the US even if the shooter was a Muslim?
"
so you do not care about LGBTQ people murdered for who they are??just that everyone ignores the motive! is this really the time for the political agenda stuff?

Now saying the gunman is from Afghanistan and had radical training

“US TV networks said the gunman, who was described by an FBI Special Agent as having “leanings” towards extremism and Islamic State, was a 29-year-old US citizen of Afghan descent.”

From the link posted above.

@wisteria100, I just read that HIS PARENTS are from Afghanistan and that he was born in the US.

Motive is a very important element of any crime, even if the end result is identical.

Of course I care. I am just asking what makes this shooting different from other mass shootings? In my opinion it’s no different regardless of reason of shooter. We have a big problem in this country and its not Islamic terrorism.

^ @emilybee I agree

It is a matter of intolerance whether it is hate based on Christian or Islamic radical religious beliefs.
