<p>Oddly enough my breakdown for last week was CR: 76 / M: 75 / W: 63, and this week it was CR: 80 / M: 70 / W: 66.</p>
<p>If only I could take the PSAT multiple times and superscore it.</p>

<p>I live in Ohio :). And I’m black, so I can get National Achievement :).</p>
<p>But my scores were way higher than expected. I could have gotten NM in any state. And it was up 16 points from my sophomore score. The testing environment causes you (or at least causes me) to concentrate a lot more than you would otherwise. And there’s this whole sense of finality that drives you to achieve.</p>
<p>Don’t miss the prognosticator/demagogue question! I did that last year and it irked me something awful. I don’t even know how I didn’t get it right.</p>
<p>PSAT <em>only</em> matters for NM/NA/the Hispanic one (unless you’re applying to prestigious summer programs). NM is nice, but it’s not going to change your life. It probably won’t change what acceptances you get. If you care about summer programs, your higher math score is the suggested one for RSI, and I don’t think any summer programs ask for higher ones than that. And there are programs like TASP which don’t care about scores very much. You’re going to be okay.</p>
<p>Mmm, yeah, I was thinking about TASP. Definitely super interested in the program, but I’m not exactly the strongest writer ever, so I don’t think I have that great of a shot… I can dream, though (:</p>

<p>Work really hard on your TASP essays! I know one girl who did it (and actually just met two people last weekend who did it as well) and her essays, more than showing her great writing, showed her singularity of focus. She was not a milquetoast, she was not wishy washy. You have to know what you’re writing about. I think two of my essays may have shown this, but the other two did not. (I’m considering the total number of essays as 4 because the book list and stating which program one would want to attend aren’t really essays.) It’s something really hard to fake, especially on some sort of essay about your future, which I think is a standard. I wish I had thought about those essays more long before I wrote them. It’s fine to be undecided about your future, if you do indeed have that essay, but be clear about your indecision. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, and since I got rejected therefore clearly didn’t do it right, I’m not really sure what to tell you to clarify being clear and focused on the topic of your own indecisiveness.</p>

<p>Ha, the cutoff for Michigan is a 209. I would’ve qualified with my sophomore PSAT score (210)… wonder why it’s so low relative to the other states’ cutoffs.</p>
<p>I think it’s relevant to the number of people that live within the state? That could be completely wrong though. Maybe it’s due to test scores? I have no idea.</p>

<p>I was talking to someone from Michigan once, and he had no idea what any SAT scores meant. I live in Ohio, so I’m supposed to understand the ACT, but I don’t. Here, pretty much everyone takes both, unless one gets a super good score on one before one has signed up to take the other.</p>

<p>LOL jk… I can understand why he wouldn’t know anything about the SAT’s. Like I stated, all the test prep hype here revolves around the ACT. There’s even a chance I wouldn’t be taking the PSAT this year if I didn’t attend a competitive private school that paid for it for the whole junior class.</p>
