I don't seem to understand about these essays!!!

<p>I don’t seem to understand about these essays. Do we have to send essays to colleges or are the SAT essays are being sent to the colleges. Or do we have to write essays to apply for US universities. I really don’t seem to understand. Please someone help me and give forth your opinions.</p>

<p>“Essays” usually mean the essays we need to write to apply to the US (ie, the big Common App essay and the supplementary essays for different colleges). But yes, the colleges you send your SAT scores too can read your essays, but that is only used for comparing your writing style etc.</p>
