I hate going to a commuter school

Everybody goes home for the weekend, which sort of forces me to go home for the weekend. And I hate going home.

A couple minutes ago, I arrived home. I walk into my room, and find my room lightswitch broken, a bunch of random chairs all over the place, and desk completely rearranged to the point where I can’t find the papers I need. Crap like this ****es me off. Too many things my family does, angers me. I hate going home.

But I have no choice. I have to go home, and live another miserable weekend at my house. Why? Because everybody else does it. And when everybody leaves, campus is SOOO boring. My school’s campus is a ghost town on the weekends. There is never anything to do.

So I have two choices, either die of boredom at school, or die of frustration at home. I’m forced every week to pick my poison. However, I wouldn’t have to, if I went to a more residential school. You know, those schools, where everybody stays for the weekends. I need to transfer to one of those.

You don’t have to go home just because everybody else does it. Who cares if it’s boring if you’re that miserable at home? I am sure you can find a way to amuse yourself. Take up an instrument or something, catch up on homework so you have weeknights free to socialize, go to a neighboring city where there’s more going on, you can always find something. It could be worse, you could actually be commuting-- I assure you, that is worse than having to find a way to amuse yourself on the weekends.

Yes, either transfer or find a way to rely less on others for entertainment.

i go to a commuter school

my parents gave me the option of dorming or commute and i chose to commute because i knew it would be boring on weekends. i’m transferring and i knew since before i even attended college i’d transfer, so i’m saving $$$ by not paying for a dorm (or a meal plan).

“So I have two choices, either die of boredom at school, or die of frustration at home.”

Or get a job (near school), spend your weekends submitting applications to schools you want to attend, I assume your getting all “A’s” because you have so much time… Or just do about anything else that draws your attention to “This Is Your Life, Get On With It”…

IF you stayed at your school over a few weekends, you’d get to know the relatively few other people who stayed over the weekend too…then it’s up to you to make your own fun.
Alternatively, why don’t you proactively recruit some of your weekday friends to stay on campus for the weekend by planning a few fun things in advance?

It’s up to you to program your own life.

If your parents will let you stay, why did you decide to go to a school far enough away to have to pay for a dorm?

Ask a girl out on a date. Go the the city, a movie, a cheap dinner, a street fair. Buy a magizine that will tell you what is going on in the city and just ask someone out.

Have you thought about joining a frat? If you look at the Kean Greek site you will find out when rush starts…probably now or very soon.
