Luckily the mothers and bridesmaids are wearing long dresses for the wedding, so I am safe there. I usually wear dress slacks for most events, or if it is a formal affair and I am in a short dress, I wear sheer support hose with some sheen that cover the legs somewhat. I have varicose veins and well s spider veins as well as bruises due to aspirin use and active dogs! While I am fairly slim, my legs have no shape what so ever; we describe them as tree trunks.
I would like to wear dresses to the bridal luncheon and the rehearsal dinner being as I am the mother of the groom; it would be nice if I were dressed. Stockings are out of the question due to weather and location. I have tried the Sally Hansen Airbrush Leg Leg Make up; it is ok for coverage, but I can tell it is on and it can cake on dry legs. Self tanner doesn’t do much for coverage, but maybe a different brand would work better. I don’t have time for a spray tan as we are traveling for the wedding; if I have it done at home, by the time the evens occur, the tan will have worn off. Not loving the idea of trying a new place in the wedding city in the event I am not happy with the results. I also don’t think I have a block of time to have it done and allow it to dry well. When I do it at home, I go in the late afternoon in yoga pants and hang out at home.
Any suggestion to make my legs look young and beautiful without plastic surgery
I have a pair of black leggings. I’d rather wear dress pants or leggings than rely on make up. I also think there are many long dresses that work well. My fashionista client wears long dresses, long skirts, or leggings.
Why not wear a long skirt or dress that you could make as dressy or casual as the occasion dictates? You can do wonders with different weights and colors of material. Or get a long black skirt and dress the top up or down, sparkly, loose top, fitted jacket…
I have pants and great tops I could wear, I just really want to try to wear a dress. Purchased a great looking dress that fits me nicely, as long as you don’t look below the knees! As I am always in slacks, I just wanted to feel like I was dressing nicer than normal, not that my pants aren’t nice.
As the wedding is in 3 weeks, I am doing one last run to the mall tomorrow to find the perfect outfit. I hate shopping and seem to do better at the last minute as I realize I have to come home with something. My alterations lady would absolutely fall over if I showed up more than a week before I needed something ready
Do you have the figure for maxi dresses? They have such nice ones this year, but most of the styles only seem to flatter relatively thin people (i.e., not me).
Options would be a maxi dress, a long skirt, a below the knee dress (or calf)…
Or wear stockings…you said out of the question…I assume it is a very warm climate, but it still could be done if sheer…
But in my view, if you love your dress and you like your shoes…forget about your legs…just enjoy the day. Very few people are perfect all over. Draw attention to your dress, jewelry, shoes…I doubt people will be staring at your legs.
I’m not sure why you feel you won’t be dressed nicer than normal if you wear slacks. I have some very nice slacks, and nice silk tops that look great for dressy occasions. I wore a silk shantung pants suit to a wedding recently. I have palazzo pants that look terrific with the right top and necklace.
I would never wear leg makeup. Sorry…just wouldn’t.
I think a maxi dress would be great. Or nice slacks and top.
I usually find that a flaw of mine that I am very self conscious about, other people don’t even notice.
My sil and mil have bad varicose veins. I don’t notice them or find them unattractive, I know they have them because they’ve pointed them out. And especially in my sil’s case, she wears short shorts and never worries about covering her legs.
I have looked at many maxi dresses, even the two above at Nordstrom! I am usually cold, so the cut of most maxi dress leave my shoulders uncovered. Any that have sleeves tend to be too matronly. If this were an outside summer event I would be happy with this choice.
If I can find a great new top for my winter white pant, I will most likely wear those for the rehearsal dinner and my black pants for the bridesmaid luncheon. My goal is not to wear a top from my closet as everyone of my family members has seen me in it more than once!! As my daughter says, pictures live forever on Facebook, so I don’t want to be in the same outfit I wore to a previous event!
I disagree on tea length – i think it is the most unflattering length on most women.
How about Dermablend makeup? It will cover anything and look natural. It is specifically made for the body. I wouldn’t worry too much about the tree trunk shape; no one will be focusing that much on your legs.
Or just wear pants. I’ve had some health issues lately that have caused my legs to swell up and I’ve had to wear pants to many events that i would normally wear dresses. it is too bad because dresses are so much more in style now than pants.
