I have to finish college but I cant find a major that I like!

Hello,
I am a freshman in Community College (Community College is so lonely). My current major is Computer Science, I am taking an introductory computer science course, and I do not really like it, the course is not something that I find fulfilling. I do not have many other options because most majors outside of STEM do not ensure that good pay. I also wanted to keep my options open to get my patent law degree, I cannot do this without a science major, I don’t know what to do. Taking a trade is NOT an option, and dropping out of college is not an option either, although I utterly hate it. People say college goes quickly, is that really true? Thinking about having another four years to pull through depresses me, and the Community College culture is not one of making friends, but rather adults going through to get what they need, leave, go back to work, and sustain mouths to feed. I wish that Computer Science was not only compelling for the earning potential.

I don’t recommend a major you “utterly hate.” You are not just looking at 4 years of college, but another 40+ years in the workforce doing something you dislike. That’s a freaking long time.

You didn’t mention what you do like. Just focusing on STEM majors:

Do you like math? (statistics, operations research, management science, numerical computing, computer graphics…)
Do you like planning and buildings things? (civil engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering…)
Do you like working in a lab? (chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical science…)
Do you care about the environment? (geology, environmental science, marine science…)
Do you care about farming or nutrition? (agricultural science, horticultural science, soil science, animal science, nutrition science…)
Do you care about people? (psychology)
Are you artsy and creative? (animation, architecture…)

Since you mentioned patent law, I wanted to double-check that you can afford to pay for law school?

Could you transfer to a different community college? They don’t all cater mostly to working adults. The one near me seems to mostly enroll young adults. It has a myriad of clubs and several competitive sports teams. (The fast facts say that 40% of the students are 20 or younger, and 10% of the students international.)
