I haven't eaten in over a day?

Hello, I am fairly curious as to why I am not starving at this point. The last time I ate was at noon yesterday for lunch and I had a slice of pizza and a Gatorade. I skipped dinner, breakfast, and lunch, yet I only feel mildly hungry. My activity level has been average, about 10000 steps(I have a pedometer on my s5) and I played one game of basketball.I did this as an experiment to see if I would be starving or not, and I am very surprised I am not wanting to eat my foot now. Any assumptions as to why I am not hungry? P.S. I slept from 3am-9am if that matters.

Well I would advise not starving yourself just to see what would happen. I would advise that you eat something. I think google or some other search engine will help you find answers to your question :). I hope you have at least had some water during this time period.

Mind over matter.

Still, you are harming your body like that

In my experience (I eat a normal amount of calories, but I don’t usually spread them out over the whole day and I sometimes go 24 hours without eating), you want to eat more once you start eating. If you’re trying to eat as little as possible, it’s best to just cut out food altogether rather than eating little snacks, because eating something will make you want to eat more.

It’s only been a day, and it’s not really going to hurt you unless you have a medical condition that would be affected by not eating. You’ll probably want to eat soon, but you should see a doctor if you really feel like you’re losing your appetite and you’re not just doing this because you’re bored or something.

Have you been busy doing stuff? I can go a much longer period without feeling the need to eat if I busy rather than if I’m sitting around.

Not eating for 24 hours is not harming your body. Not anymore than less than eight hours of sleep or bruising your knee slightly. As with halcyonheather, I do this here and there without even thinking about it (don’t eat breakfast, may miss dinner if i’m working on something and thus go 24 hours from lunch to lunch). However, people DO tend to function better with more food though. So while you may not be hungry, the first thing you will probably notice (or others will notice) is that you will probably become more irritable, less patient, and/or have very little stamina.

Humans evolutionarily developed in a world where going 24 hours without food was probably pretty common. Then again we also ran our food down with long distance running. Lets just be glad we don’t have to do that anymore.
