I got off the waitlist at UVA and accepted the spot. So I said yes on the reply form and mailed it. I forgot to include the deposit (I don’t know how much-I don’t know if the reply form asks for the deposit). What should I do?

My best advice is to call the admissions office and explain your error. They can tell you the amount you should have desposited, and then you can send it in. The quicker the better.

Follow these steps:

Relax. Somebody else here will tell you if a deposit was required or not (and how much $ if it is required).

If one is required, send a check this morning via FedEx overnight from your local FedEx Kinko’s or send it overnight mail from a post office.

Call and email them Monday morning to explain that you were so exhausted from pulling a 24-hour volunteer shift at the local orphanage that you had a an uncharacteristic momentary lapse in judgement when you got word that you had just been accepted to the best university on the planet.

Go to UVa and graduate with honors.

Get married.

Have kids.

Drive your kids absolutely nuts by being anal about them forgetting critical details when completing enormously important life-changing paperwork.

My friend was in the same shoes with you. Just inform the admission office of that situation and then send the deposit ASAP. By the way, it’s $250.

No worries, Patticake! Send us an email and we’ll make sure the people who open the mail know to keep an eye out for your form.

Good advice job tourguide-way to put it in perspective. Could you help me plan the rest of my life, please?

rfelax, they wont screw you. we did the same thing and they called and said thanks for attending, send in your deposit asap. ask them they may take credit cards over the phone and you can have this over in a minute.

All right. Thanks. I don’t mean the biggest mistake…just the stupidest mistake.

haha–I was about to say: if this is the biggest mistake of you’re life then you’ve have an easy life thus far :)
