Hi! I’m an international student I’m planning to apply this year and I took TOEFL last week. I haven’t received my score yet but I can’t sleep because I guess that I got only 80
If I really got 80, do i have any chance to study in prestigious schools like Ivy League schools?
No
You can go to lots of colleges with a TOEFL 80. Look at the national LAC list numbers 50-125, regional Universities, national Universities 60-110.
That’s very low for the elite schools - but as MYOS says, there are many lower-ranked options that are still very good.
Here is a list of Minimum TOEFL scores that was found by a simple google search:

The Ivies require a minimum of 100.
Click the link for each schools updated minimum score.
Thank youuu
Don’t worry about it until you actually get your score. It’s just a waste of energy. But, no, an 80 will not get you into an Ivy League school.
Thank youu
Those required TOEFL scores are for GRADUATE schools and not necessarily applicable to undergraduate department. They don’t have a specific score requirement for undergraduates as I’ve asked the same question to an admission officer. Just because you got 80 does not put you on the no-list for ivies, as they take holistic approach on admissions. Obviously higher the better.
@factoryboy No, there are specific requirements for undergraduate TOEFL. Check each school’s website. Holistic admissions does not allow for students with limited English abilities except at colleges looking for full pay internationals.
Sure they do, at least many do. As examples:
Yale: “100 on the internet-based TOEFL”
https://admissions.yale.edu/applying-yale-international-student
MIT (not an Ivy, I know): “IBT: 90 minimum; 100 recommended”
http://mitadmissions.org/apply/freshman/tests
Columbia: "A minimum score of 600 (paper-based test) or 100 (Internet-based test) is necessary for admission to Columbia. "
https://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/apply/international
Again, the OP should not worry about it until s/he actually gets the score, but aside from the admissions consideration, a TOEFL score of 80 would indicate to me that the applicant would struggle with college coursework where the language of instruction is English.
^not necessarily, as 80 is a pretty good score for most colleges.
(79-85 means readiness to attend a US college, 61-75 indicates community college instruction is more recommended.)
100 means more than the ability to do well with college coursework, it means the ability to handle the very fast pace and high expectations of top US colleges.
I wish native speakers currently in HS could take the test; beside Listening, which all would do well in, I wonder how they’d do. It’s not an easy test, by far.
