It turns out I have been informally “nominated” to create a community blog.
Turns out I’ve been very vocal on local community issues and people tend to seek me out for information.
The minute I step out of my door, and try to walk around the neighborhood, they wait for me! I figured it would be easier to do it online, hence the idea of a blog.
I’m not trying to make money. I just want something that I can use for, close to free.
It’s just to keep the community updated about events.
(I am in Southern California and a lot of the properties around here, are in open space, where we have to worry about fires and our neighbors are losing their homeowners insurance. We have a number of elderly residents, with fruit trees, and there’s an organization, in our local area that comes to pick the fruit off of the trees of the elderly. The fruit is distributed to food banks and local schools. Because my kids were always proactive in the neighborhood, they also have links to community resources that are free.)
Every time I try to find a free host, there’s always a monthly cost involved.
Is there any way I can find something that’s completely free or close to it?
blogger.com from Google. If you have a gmail account it is free and easy. I put up my travel “journals” so I don’t have to tell people where we are or what we are doing. I don’t do facebook or intagram so this blog format works for me. People reading it do not have to have gmail…
