I need new clothes and I hate shopping. Help!

Yes! I have an IG account. Thanks for the recommendation. I will follow her. This is just what I need.

I’ve bought some things from Quince.com. It’s online only but they have very well made classics (in natural fibers no less) for very reasonable prices given the quality.

Thank you! I had never heard of Quince until a couple of weeks ago when it started popping up in my ads. I’ve been wondering if their clothes were any good.

Yes. Very good quality. I’ve gotten heavy cotton and cashmere sweaters and the quality is excellent. I also bought my sister a really nice Italian leather tote from there and that was very nicely made as well. Considering the quality, I think the prices are very fair. I like the fact that most of their clothes are natural fiber - cashmere, cotton, silk and linen. I hate the fact that so many clothes are fake fiber these days because it doesn’t hold up well - gets shiny or pills after a year or two.

Can you describe your style a bit? Do you need work business casual and at home casual clothing? Is athleisure part of your style?

I’m about your height. Old Navy has been great for jeans - they have a variety of inseams.

I like JCrew Factory. They often have outfits made to go together. Loft pants are hit or miss as far as length.

I love Quince! Good quality and price.

Follow Pinterestingplans on IG. She is tall and puts together neutral outfits.

My votes are for loft, jcrew, and ann taylor - for all three check both their regular website and their factory website.
I also have tried and like Quince.
I used to love gap factory but their quality the last couple of years has gone way down.

oh my…style…not sure I have one. I definitely don’t need business clothes, as I am retired. Lots of jeans or fitted stretchy pants/leggings with duster sweaters (or my coatigan), denim or leather jacket. Both short and tall boots. I like skirts with tights and boots. I LOVE high heels, but never wear them since I am already tall and my DH is only an inch taller than me. I have lots of black, but also like some color. I am really paranoid about buying old lady clothes. (I am 59 but I want to dress like the 40ish women I see dress!)

I don’t have any athleisure, but I would like to have some–especially now that I am in a smaller size. I wouldn’t even know where to start.

Thank you! I had no clue that there were factory websites in addition to the regular sites.

If you are willing to pay a bit more, the low-to mid-end designer clothes are made for tall people. I always have to hem things from Cinq a Sept, Alice and Olivia, etc. Saks and some other sites will tell how tall the model wearing a particular piece is. Usually 5’9” to 5’10”. Average height people like me have to chop 3-5 inches off the pants and pretend that the skirts are maxi.

Like this dress… the model is definitely a good 4 inches taller than average height me, because on me it is a complete maxi.

Find your closest school with a fashion department. Place an ad with that school in search of a fashion stylist - really. Offer a budding fashion student some $ to shop with you, help you find your style, and dress you. It may take 3 or 4 shopping trips but you’ll have a wardrobe that fits, both your body and your style. I had the good fortune of having this opportunity for a one-night affair. I never felt more comfortable and in style in my whole life. And I looked great. Give it a try.

Good tips. I always wonder whether the models are wearing off the rack sizes or if they’ve been tailored pre photo shoot.

I alone would be a big enough project that I could be some graduating student’s senior thesis!

I love that Nordstrom lists details on their website

For instance these pants from Alice and Olivia have a 36” inseam

Someone mentioned Tuckernuck. Their style is very cool, returning things in my experience was very slow. Very slow!

I look at ease of returns because I order a ton online anymore.

The only things I’ve liked from Amazon are their basic t-shirts and some wide leg athleisure pants that all the influencers are peddling (that I can get in a shorter length - yay!) The influencers make the Amazon stuff look good, but often when you sort through the reviews and actual pictures reviewers post, you can see that that the quality isn’t great.

I’m not tall but I’ve also had good luck with Quince and agree that Anthro has a good selection of pants of various lengths. Also, although expensive, the higher end jean companies also offer different lengths (Paige, Mother to name a couple). For athleisure, Athleta offers many tall options in tops and bottoms. I stay away from “factory” versions of retailers because I find the quality to be lacking.

Once you find the brands that you like you can go exclusively online and avoid all of the shopping in person hassles! Sign up for emails from the ones you like - they all have sales at some point.

I have recently found athleisure I really like at https://vuoriclothing.com. I love their joggers and they come in long as well as regular sizing. 20% your first purchase. The other brand I have recently bought a lot from is Ready-to-wear, Leather Goods, Accessories and Fragrance | Sustainable Parisian style | Sézane. They are a French company that started as an online only shop but now have brick and mortar in Paris as well as a few other select US cities. I visited the shop in DC and loved everything - also visited a location in Paris. Great sizing suggestions, I haven’t had to return anything. I hope this link from the WSJ works - if not, check the blog “Everyday Parisian” for her “Links I Love” section. The Fashion Brand That’s French Enough for Parisians  - WSJ

I like Vuori bottoms too (currently wearing a pair). Many of their tops are cropped/too short. Looking forward to the day that the cropped trend ends

Good to hear the feedback on Sezane. I’ve had their webpage cued up for a while now but wasn’t sure about it.

I have seen a lot of Sezane lately in my IG feed and I have to say it always looks great. I haven’t checked online yet - assuming the price point is higher?

I would love the chance to visit a Vuori store just to have a one-time opportunity to see and try a lot of pieces in one room.

It is a bit higher price point but the quality is exceptional. Their knitwear is fabulous. I have shoes, bags, jeans, sweaters - my big splurge was a suede jacket that I love. It was $305 but it doesn’t have that “smell” suede can sometimes have. Super comfortable, just pull it on and go.

Boden has tall options. It’s pretty easy to get free shipping & free returns with them.
