I need new clothes and I hate shopping. Help!

I am finding myself wearing a lot less. I don’t find them very comfortable and they are not that flattering on me. I wear more wide legged pants or skinny stretchy pants. I really like Evalane’s dream pants.

I haven’t worn jeans in years and my husband has not owned a pair of jeans since I met him 50 years ago. I don’t find the material comfortable although the newer stretchier, softer materials have improved somewhat.

My Lands End sports knit pants have replaced jeans. There are dressier versions, “washing the car” versions, corduroy and velour, or just regular ponte knit.

I’m sure if I devoted some time to finding jeans that fit my current physique I could… I have friends who are bigger than I am and they look fantastic in jeans. I am just reluctant to give up my stretchy/comfy/always fits whether you are up or down 5 lbs. Lands End pants!

Denim has evolved! Long gone are the dinosaurs of denim fabric that were heavy, non-stretchy, and just plain uncomfortable. But denim is definitely more tricky and personalized than let’s say ponte knit.

I was intrigued so I just checked them out. They are on sale right now. I think a few of them are headed my way!

Sometimes there is freedom in admitting to yourself that jeans are not “all that”.

I don’t think I’ve ever been a jeans lover. Not in my teens or early adulthood, not during motherhood, not now. I mean I’ll always have a couple pair but I am never like “omg, can’t wait to put my jeans on!!”

Thank goodness there are many acceptable choices for looking stylish, age appropriate, and being happy with what you’re wearing!

Just ordered 2 sweaters from Quince. The cropped cardigan and the fisherman sweater (both cotton).

My Quince sweaters arrived yesterday! I was surprised at how fast they came.

Sweater 1 - the cropped cardigan (I got cotton). I like it but it is boxy, so if that does not work for you.

Sweater 2 - Fisherman, also cotton. Love it.

Both seem well made, if i’m still happy after they are washed I will definitely reccommend.

Are they 100% cotton? I do like cotton but it can sometimes just grow and grow without having another fiber to provide good recovery as the garment gets worn and stretched out

So true. I bought a cotton cardigan at Talbots this fall.

After I washed it, it shrunk in the sleeves but when I wear it, it expands but not in the places I would like it to.

Unfortunately I probably won’t wear it much because of this. I never know which items will do that and which won’t.

The labels say 100% organic cotton. As I say, I will re assess after they are washed.

In defense of cotton (which I do like), you can agree or disagree with this but I think people wash their clothes too much/too often. If I’m wearing a cotton sweater and a tshirt underneath it it’s the tshirt that is going to get washed more NOT the sweater.

Of course an item will need to be washed sometime. But less washing, and proper proper washing and drying (gentle, by hand, drying on a towel) can help a lot of cotton items.

Agreed. I admit I wear most things a few times before I wash them. I do not sweat a lot (unless I’m working out).

Make sure the wash and the rinse water temperatures are the same. This helps prevent premature shrinking. On washers, it usually means choosing cold water/no heat cycle.
