I need new clothes and I hate shopping. Help!

I ordered 4 items from Sezane. I won’t keep them all but wanted to try a few.
@scubasue have you found any clothing you liked?

My Sezane order came today. I’m not sure what happened but they delivered to my billing address which is my office. My daughter was there to sign for it (fed Ex). She will bring it to her house today and I’ll pick it up tonight. I’m excited.

I live in NYC with a lot of retail stores, but I haven’t been in many of them since Covid.
These are my go to online stores:

My at home wear is https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/

I used to buy a lot of expensive shoes, but I have found Cole Haan to have the most comfortable boots and are very affordable when on sale.

Have great ballet flats and loafers.

So sorry for the delay in responding! Busy few days here.

I have made some progress…lots of things in my online carts…so many that I have to find time to cull my “maybes” down before I order. I thing I am also going to try a subscription service…have been watching a few unboxing videos and reading reviews before I decide on one.

I did go over to the nearby Old Navy and found a few things to make outfits out of some things I already had:
-a cream with black stripes sweater I will wear with black jeans, a denim jacket and black ankle boots
-a winter white flowy blouse and matching jacket I can wear with some dark jeans
-a light blue fitted longish fleece jacket and matching tank I will wear with some black leggings
-a lightweight winter white coat

I am still skeptical about the quality of ON clothes but the pieces I got were inexpensive enough that I won’t mind replacing them if they pill or fall apart.

I also found a cute long sleeve knee length shirt style denim dress with the tags still on it on the back of my closet! So I got a brown leather belt, tall leather boots, tights and a scarf to wear with that.

Found some cute pointy toe leopard print flats I can wear with lots of things also.

Right now I am also working on my closet…ruthelessly moving things I havent worn but afraid I might want later to an empty closet in another room, throwing out things that don’t fit, and making notes of pieces I could buy to make outfits out of the few things I love but don’t wear because I don’t have anything to wear them with.

I also have to go to Seattle next week so, with the encouragement (via pm) of @coffeeat3 I will go to UVillage and hit some of the shops there. I used to go there quite a bit but it was also when I was paying tuition, so I never had much money to spend. Looking forward to to finding some things there!

I did a quick closet clean out but I need to do a deep dive into my shoes. 90% of them I don’t wear. Many were bought over the years to go with a specific outfit.
The Sezane packaging was very nice. They also include a return label to make returns easy. I love the sweater I decided to add at the last minute to my order. The sweater dress I’ll reorder in a smaller size. I like a sweater dress to throw on our black leggings in the winter. Add boots and I feel somewhat more put together. @sabaray i love the Betty sweater but I’m concerned it’s not long enough for my torso. I need to try it on with jeans and my black skirt. Thanks for the brand suggestion.

Sounds like it was a worthwhile order to start working though your needs / sizing. Good luck with the reorder.

I am away on a long weekend getaway and I went into a shop and asked for help finding new jeans. My usual MO is to walk in, walk around and walk out without trying anything. I had a great salesperson around my age who asked me a few questions and she went to work. I tried numerous brands in different styles. I walked out with two pairs of jeans in a more updated style.
I was so glad I asked for help.
Update on Sezane. I brought my returns to UPS on Tuesday and I had my credit today. I’m impressed with the quick turnaround.

Can you describe how the styles you bought were different than what you already had??

People can poo poo mother jeans, their cost and their inconsistencies in sizing.

But when you find the right size, they are magic jeans, wear like crazy and are the jeans you reach for over all the others.

Super comfortable, very flattering. Worth all the Pennie’s imo

A pair of jeans that fits well is priceless!

My favorite at the moment brand is Sportmax. When they go on sale or acquired on Yoox. Note the stitching on the butt to make the fabric fit the curve:

I also like Wit and Wisdom.

I recently discovered Wit and Wisdom. They have elastic on the inside of the waist band, but it’s not the gathered thing that one usually thinks of with elastic. It’s smooth and just very comfortable. I got two pairs – https://www.nordstrom.com/s/absolution-high-waist-raw-hem-skinny-crop-jeans-regular-petite/5439590 and https://www.nordstrom.com/s/absolution-straight-leg-jeans/7509805

I think I first heard of Mother jeans on CC on another thread. Probably was from you. I always like the clothes you post so I think we have similar taste.
I am an all over the price map shopper. I will spend on some items but I’m also happy with my $10 white t shirt from Target. Which sometimes goes on sale for even less.

I don’t have a problem paying lots for good jeans that fit. I wear them virtually everyday, everywhere. It’s a great deal when one considers the “price-per-wear.”

Yup! My little kid and I like that brand. Very reasonable prices, too.

I am trying to get dressed for brunch with a friend and realizing that I dress like a little old man. Baggy pants, collared shirts, cardigans and boatneck sweaters. That look is actually “in” with the younger ladies at my office but I don’t think it’s doing me any favors.

I’m a fashion emergency.

I am revamping my closet. Decided I look and feel best in navy, other shades of blue, grey, black and white. So many of the fun patterned tops are going on to their next life.

I struggle to find jeans. I am long in the torso but have a short rise. I can.not.stand. high rise pants. First off, they want to slip down to find my natural waist which means they wind up bagging in the crotch. Secondly, but more importantly, I can.not.stand anything pushing on the area around my stomach. My jeans must be mid-rise so that they sit below my bellybutton.

I did find two pair of Old Navy ones in a grey wash that I really like. Ordered the same styles, same size, in different colors and none of these four pairs fit. Sigh.

I have a very old pair of Lee high waisted black jeans. They didn’t fit for a long time, so it feels good to be able to wear the again. But… I’m not loving the high waist and thick stiff denim, was thinking of throwing in the giveaway pile. However they look good and were excellent in the cold weather the other day. LOL - still deciding.
