I need to know what classes I should take in high school so I can get into the college I want.

My sister is the one who showed me this website… So here I am… I’m not sure I’m doing this right so I’ll just try my best! My sister is an actress, she will be moving to LA to attend an acting college this summer. I want to follow in her footsteps. She told me it was about choosing the right classes in high school and keeping up your grades. So could you guys help me choose my classes for high school?

These are the colleges I am considering…
-AMDA (American Musical and Dramatic Academy)
-NYFA (The New York Foundation for the Arts) LA campus
-USC (Majoring in theater, minoring in costume design.)
-UCLA (Majoring in theater, minoring in costume design.)
-AADA (American Academy of Dramatic Arts)
-Lee Strasberg theater institute
-CalArts (California Institute of the Arts)

Do you have a college counselor at your high school you could speak with? They would probably be in the best position to help you with deciding on specific classes for your high school schedule.

USC and UCLA will have the most rigorous requirements for admission of any of the schools on your list. Go to those colleges’ websites, and find their admissions section. There should be information on what they look for in students, as well as statistics for their recent admitted classes.

You need to match the UC a-g requirements for UCLA and many private California schools also expect you to take the same courses. It is a college prep program, academically demanding, although the TFT school does not demand a high grade point average. The school also has a writing exercise as part of the admissions process. Check here for a list of classes.
