I really shouldn't read any forums on this board other than this one.

My H is from California and his favorite fresh fruit is a nice, ripe fig. He picked them right off the tree in his father’s yard.

FIL used to have fig trees. Right off the tree, at the height of summer, those things were out of this world.

timely, I agree. I thought Get Smart was just right - a good summer guilty pleasure.

I want to go see Wall-E - just waiting until D or S1 sees it, to give us a clue about whether S2 can come along or not.

Now, from Taste of Chicago…today we have Ann Sather cinnamon rolls and

Eli’s cheesecake in six different flavors. Help yourself.

If your in the Chicago viewing area, tonight (Weds) 7pm, channel eleven

pbs will have a segment on local hs students.

Anybody we know, Cottonwood??

We went to the fair last night and D tried a deep-fried twinkie. She loved it. I, however, cannot get past the name. Glad I saved myself for a virtual cinnamon roll. yumm!

New at the fair this year is some kind of deep-fried sandwich made with a krispy kreme donut instead of bread. And I thought the twinkie was out there!

Harriet, et al

Well one is a friend of my son.

We’re not in the area, so will miss the show, but kudos to Friend of Cottonwood’s Son for being newsworthy in a good way.

We had about half a waffle’s worth of batter left. I cooked it this morning. I just toasted it and then had it with Nutella. MMM,MMM good! Meanwhile my youngest is teaching his friends how to back an apple pie. I just got a call confirming oven temperatures. Getting deja vu here, except I’m my Mom!

Nutella is one of those things I eat with a spoon right out of the jar. Cannot buy it as I cannot eat it in moderation…

Thanks, Mikasauntie and Harriet! That teacher should get a Golden Apple!

How long do you grill sweet corn, wrapped in foil? How about chicken thighs?

I brought more cherries and grapes today. What else is in season? Ice cream later.

Ice cream later? What can you mean? It’s always time for ice cream, right now! ;)

OK, ready. Do you want our usual Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip? Or do you want to try one of these new flavors? Which appeals to you?

I’m glad somebody is here.
