I seriously hate Azn parents

Yeah i’m trying to prove my point to my parents. I really study hard for everything I do. It’s just dat I don’t put as many hours into it as my parents wants me to. They want me to study like 5 hours a day -_-;;; and study all weekends. Thankfully, I’m living in US by myself and therefore I just have to listen to their lectures only like 5 hours a week (yeah they call me like EVERYDAY)

and no offense to Asian parents, they all work hard and they really do care for their children. But i think many of them push their children too much. C’mon let them study on their own, not becuz you force them to.

just a side note, today i noticed one of my classmates who got a B in great books cried. i said noticed because she cried for like a few seconds.

she’s asian american.

yes a lot of people do have it worse than you do. I only had 2 B’s in my entire HIgh school career and was often critisized by my parents for obtainig those 2 B’s in English 4AP, also when I took the SAT first time and gotten a 2190 I told to work HARDER AND HARDER until I got my 2310. Its not the idea of hating your parents because their asian, of telling you how much to study, but they are your parents and they do know more about how you will act because they have already been through what you have been through. If you aren’t pushed and or challenged you wont have the will and desire to do your best. My SAT score was good (2190) but it wasn’t great so I decided to prove to my parents wrong by studying and getting a higher score and saying to them ’ see I did it!" the feeling of proving to them you are able to do this is much better than just complaining about them in an internet forum. See when you should be studying for SAT and or AP test you are on college confidential just *****ing about your parents so get over it. A LOT OF US HAD IT WORSE THAN YOU DO and thank god for our parents that pushed us to our limits to do our best

Im azn and my parents couldn’t care less for my education. They didn’t care K-12 and they don’t care about my grad school education. My gpa in HS was only a 2.9. I want to pursue the phd but my dad said its a waste of time. My family is definitely not the majority, but a lot of azn parents are what the poster described.
