I think ETS is trying to screw me

Hey guys

I’ve taken the TOEFL on the 27th of August. My sister registered me for it, and she accidentally set my date of birth to march 3 instead of 8. The supervisor looked at my ID on test day and told me it was not correct, and almost refused to let me take the test! He instead selected the “student may take the test but might not get score reported” and then his comment to ets was “her dob is wrong, but she can take the test and have her score reported as long as she contacts you as soon as possible”. Which I did, as soon as I got home I emailed them.

They told me to fax them my primary identification and also a copy of the email, which I did, on monday. They still haven’t fixed my dob, and I’m scared out of my wits that they might not report my score. I don’t HAVE another 200 dollars to take it again.

Can they seriously do this? I explained the situation and everything, they said they will review my request and everything, but they said nothing about my score being reported.

come onnn, 64 views and no reply? :(

I got my birthdate changed on my GRE records. It took a few days to process but everything turned out fine. However, I had no problems taking the test - I only wanted the birthdate corrected so that grad schools wouldn’t have problems matching my score report to my application.

Maybe you could send that fax again, just in case it didn’t go through or got lost in the shuffle. If you have access to a scanner, I would also suggest that you scan your ID and email it to ETS. I was told that both fax and email were acceptable.

P.S. Monday is a national holiday in the US, so don’t hold your breath for a response from ETS.

They told me they would get to me in 3-4 work days after I sent the fax, and I’ve been checking religiously, but it’s still not changed. The thing that bothers me isn’t that it’s wrong, it’s that the supervisor said they shouldn’t report my scores because of it!

Yeah, I know, it’s Labor Day and everything. Hopefully maybe Tuesday they’ll have some good news for me.
