I think my chances are shot....

I am out-of-state.

Freshman year:
Language Arts (LA) H- B+
Biology H- A
World History H- A-
Geometry- A
Spanish 2- A (no honors offered for Spanish 2 and 3 @ my school)

Sophomore year:
Language Arts H 2- B+
Chemistry H- A-
AP US History 1- A-
Spanish 3- A
Honors Algebra 2/Trig- B

I was dissatisfied with my grades at the end of this year, and I think that UVA won’t accept me because of it. My GPA went down from a 4.31 to about a 4.24. And I got totally gypped of A’s in band and phys. ed (the proper term for gym at my school). These are two joke classes and I can’t really earn the grades, the teacher more like gave them to me. I think since I’m out of state, this year will keep me from getting in.

Any suggestions/help?

You can get several B’s and still get in. More importantly, you need to take hard classes. Take as many AP classes as possible while still getting mostly A’s. You can’t really judge your chances right now because they also look at test scores, ECs, essays, etc. GPA’s important but it’s not everything.

It’s not just your grades… what’s your SAT? Activities? Rank in class? And for OOS, they expect a near perfect record for your transcript.

Record by like grades or for like being a criminal? Because I’m certainly not a criminal
