I used to be social in middle school?

Ever since high school started, I’ve been a social hermit. Well not an all-out hermit, but my new friends are not as sociable and mostly find fun in watching asian dramas… I’m glad I have these friends, because they won’t pressure me to do bad things and are just as focused on school as I am.

However, I used to be a lot more social in middle school…my friends would talk about boys all the times and we would gossip a LOT. I was even in the “popular” group (i know it sounds stupid lol)

But who else here on CC was also sociable…until high school started?

I defiantly take things more serious now (I was home-schooled up until high school) and no longer have much in common with some of my home-school friends. That being said, we don’t really have a popular group at my school, I have a reasonable amount of friends, but probably less then during my home-school days.

lol me :).

this thread was drowning. i’m saving it!

I was really social in early elementary school, then dropped a bit in junior high, and hit my lowest in the first years of high school, but I’ve clawed my way back…

For various reasons I now want to be closer to people, and I love my classmates (go to a small school), so I text, meet up, go to amusement parks with them or whatever more often. Although as a rising senior my closest friends are busy most of the time, or I am, but we talk fairly often.

I would blame grades, and they could be a part of it since I’ve never had anything lower than an A-, but it was most likely video games that made me just not care as much about people. Starting with my school’s formal last spring, in which I asked a senior girl, I went on a three month break from video games until the school year ended and for many reasons am seeking better relationships with friends.

My personality is to talk and smile a lot, in part because I’m happy and have a purpose in life that is greater than me (in God), and so I can’t allow myself to be antisocial as to void myself from being an example to others.

Anyways, I’m growing in social aspects for a reason and am enjoying it… It takes effort, but I’m thankful to have friends that will read texts that are a few hundred words at times to Facebook messages that have hit almost 2000 words-- that isn’t really social since it’s through the Internet, but draws you closer to people, which for me I see as good.

-helping you out enfield… Have seen a number of your posts : D

It’s more of the opposite for me. I was a semi-hermit in middle school and then I became extremely social my freshman year. I tuned it down sophomore year and with my schedule for junior year I nearly became a hermit again. But senior year, senior year is when I’m going to go all out. No regrets.

I peaked around eighth grade. Then I realized how much fun being introverted is.

I’m the complete opposite. I was really shy in middle school and high school made me become more outgoing lol

I wasn’t very social at the start of high school. My best friends moved away every year until freshman year, and I had no one left.

As scary as it sounds (and especially coming from a supersensitive person like me), you have to be bold and make the first move. As weird as it sounds, I pounced on a bunch of new kids and some other people I was friendly with, but not very close with, and 3 years later I have a pretty solid group of friends, with a lot of variety. Some people i’m friends with, some i’m not, but we’re all happy.

As cliche as it sounds, joining activities really is the best way to meet people. The people you’re most likely to get along with and form a bond with is people you a.) see often (i.e. a weekly activity or even daily) and b.) have a common interest with (“No way, you like to research global economics? Me too!”). School clubs and such are a great way to do that. Without JROTC and the few (but really important to me) activities I do, I would have no friends.

You have to let yourself be available!

I never was.
I mean it might be because people question my sanity. They don’t know how hard I try in school and in ECs cos they never bothered getting to actually converse with me.
I announced that Greek heroes were sexist in English class, that Romeo and Juliet were idiots and love didn’t exist and Pip was a jerk and Estella was the only halfway interesting character.
I campaigned against Poe. “Poe’s a jerk but we like his work”.
I slid around in my socks in history and it goes on an on.
So my friends are amazing because they let me be me. And everyone else calls me loony under their breaths. Oh and yeah I hear them. But really what does that matter?
