I've been contemplating my dream for a long time, and I've finally realized that I wanted to be a teacher. I want to teach high school students because I LOVE reading other peoples' essays and teaching them ways to study. I have the desire and passion to encourage ALL students to excel, and to leave no child behind. I also want to be an illustrator for children's books. What path should I take?

Being a teacher and going to a good college aren’t mutually exclusive so I don’t understand the question.

You can be a teacher regardless of what uni you go to. Just because you want to become a teacher does not mean you can not go to a top uni.

Why would being a teacher require going to a bad college?

Like everyone else said, you don’t seem to have a conflict. You can become a teacher even if you went to Harvard or Franklin Pierce University.

Kudos to you!! Educators are a critical part if our society and nine of us would be where we are today (or where we are going) without passionate teachers. ;)

May i suggest that you seriously consider finances in your school decision. Teachers aren’t the most well-paid profession and being able to start your profession with as little debt as possible will allow you yo take a position you love, even if the salary is lower than anticipated.

I come from a family of educators and am currently finishing my degree in education also. If you have the passion, don’t let anyone get in your way!

:). Best wishes!
