"I wouldn't want to be the GC today"

That’s what my S told me today when I talked to him earlier. Maybe this is the day you don’t ever want to be a GC but I think that this year might be worse.

It’s the first day after all the decisions have come out and from what I heard from my S it was brutal. I’m sure that there are disappointments every year but this year seemed to be especially bad.

It sounded like it was worse for the girls than the boys. Waitlisted or denied to schools that would have been safetys in years past. A couple of girls were only accepted to one school. The boys seemed to have faired a little better, mostly because they applied to more super safetys.

I wasn’t suprised as I’ve been following things on CC but for those who didn’t are in for a shock. I wonder if GC’s are going to have to rethink their advice for next year. You look at the Scattergrams and make predictions but this year all bets are off.

Several years ago the GC at my kids school took the first week of April off!! The public school here all have spring break this week, so no kids or GC available. Maybe that is good timing for spring break; it gives the kids time to let everything sink in.

Not a bad idea. When I was in law school, the first semester grades always came out the Friday of Spring Break for just that reason.
