I may live to regret this, because my iphone 6 has already been acting wonky, but I am in the process of downloading the new i0s 11. I probably should have done it on my new ipad first, especially with the features it offers for the new ipad, but its too late now. Has anyone else downloaded it yet? Thoughts? Opinions? Comments? Likes/dislikes? Things to get used to that are different from the previous i0s? All help appreciated. I usually wait to see what bugs are reported and download later, but my photo video on my google photos isn’t working right on the phone, so decided to see if this might help. One can hope…
DS#1 already told me that the issue with the video on the phone might be a separate issue, but the opportunity to see that new grandbaby in action on the phone was too hard of a draw!
I updated and haven’t had any problems. I have a 7.
Haven’t used it yet but there is a cool edit feature on photos. It looks different. But not bad just different
11 is out? I finally talked myself into upgrading to 10 just last weekend.
Seems like most of the upgrades are for IPad.
So far, playing with it on my phone, I was able to get the video to work that was not working before, it does seem to be responding a little faster, and the dictation seems to have somewhat fewer bazaar auto correct. Siri however is still a stupid idiot even though they claim she’s gained a few IQ points. I haven’t seen it yet. It’s also a little easier to move icons on the screen.
One of my students took photo and uploaded it to a submission file but it was saved with the file extension HEIC which is apparently not compatible with my Windows so I can’t open it. Now sure how to resolve that yet.
@sylvan8798 Try this: http://heictojpg.com
I liked the split screen on the new iPad on iOs 10. The 11 is hard to figure out.
We all have the iphone 6. Not sure if I will upgrade.
Husband upgraded his iphone to 11 yesterday. Today he was in the house on the phone and I started the car in the garage and it automatically connected to his phone (he had bluetooth off). This is a new car safety feature which you can’t turn off.
@kiddie, I read on macrumors that iOS 11 doesn’t allow you to turn off Bluetooth in the control center anymore. It just disables new connections. Could that be the issue?
If bluetooth can not be disabled, that would be a problem in my car. For some reason, my car likes my husband’s iPhone 6s better than mine! His phone always connects before mine when we get in the car, so we usually disable his phone so mine will connect, otherwise we have to go through a few clicks of the car to switch connected phones.
From my reading you have to go into settings to disable bluetooth and turn off wifi. Not as easy as going into the control center to do it.
So in theory we don’t have to upgrade, right? I still have a laptop using Windows 7 and my desktop is on Windows 8, so I’m not really an early adopter.
You don’t have to upgrade, but it found that some things tht were misbehaving on my phone were now cooperating on ios11. They should have worked on 10, but they didnt. And I was told not to do too many hard restarts (by the apple people) as it wasn’t good for the phone. Will have to eye what happens when dh and I are both in his car. Its not an issue in my car— too old- no bluetooth.
Ugh. I am in the middle of the latest iOs (11.2) update. I think its at least the 4th update since the release of the iOs11. Each one seems to add more aggravation. The phone is painfully slow, apps I need that use bluetooth are having more and more issues, and I wish I could believe that each “fix” will actually FIX something.
My iPhone went crazy this morning. Kept closing out of the apps and had to re open. I finally reset my phone, it was the only thing that worked. Strange thing was that my D had the same problem with her SE but H didn’t with his 6. But he may not have upgraded to iOS11, I’m not sure.
The articles said that there was some glitch with the time feature that caused some apps with auto refresh to shut the phone down, and they did a fast release of the latest update.
Good…because I’m sick of the issues the latest upgrade caused.
So far I am not seeing any improvement
