No it doesn’t. American/Canadian schools don’t really care what subjects you take, they just care about the fact that you’re getting an IB Diploma. Just take whatever you’re more interested in, which should equal better grades.

P.S: I’d say drop either English or History to SL. Both are very writing-intensive.

we don’t have either in SL. our IB program is only 2 years old

oh and I forgot one course which is Art SL

so:

Eng HL 2 years
His HL 2 years
Bio HL(I’ll just take physics in college even though i love it) 2 years
Math SL 2 years
Art SL 2 years (wth?)
Chem SL 1 year
French SL 1 year
TOK 2 years

It is very, very intensive and is really only recommended for people going into Arts for college. Same for Theater. Why are you taking 7 subjects instead of the regular 6? You don’t have to take Theater or Arts to get your diploma.

Nope, you’re misinformed. It is NOT mandatory to take a subject from group 6. You can instead choose one more subject from groups 1-5, and hence you can drop Visual Arts/Theater and keep your other 6 subjects for your Diploma. You’re taking 2 subjects from Group 4 (sciences) instead of 1 group 4 and 1 group 6, which is allowed.

You can only replace a group 6 subject. You HAVE to take atleast 1 subject from group 2, which is French for you. And everything I said is correct, it is straight from the procedure manual for Diploma Coordinators.
