IB MYP Certificate? In My Situation, Worth It?

Hello,

I am currently a student in the IB program in the Year 11. I have a choice upon me, which is to either take the IB MYP certificate or not take it. I wanted to know whether UK universities in general, takes IB MYP certificate into consideration during admission. Does it hold any value or provide advantage to a candidate who only has a IB Diploma (high school certificate), but not a MYP certificate.

I am really lost, people that did take it are telling me its not worth it or it doesn’t matter. I have consulted teachers, my parents, sibling, about this but I can’t figure out.

It would be of most importance to me if you could help me. Please. I’m in Norway for the past 6-7 years in a IB school and I have a IB PYP certificate too.

If I took the IB MYP certificate it cost 450 euros and I would have to give 5 exams, 3 e-portfolio assessments and a personal project. Also my school offers no alternative to the MYP certificate, like GCSE or IGCSE, etc.

Regards,
Akhil

Do you mean the new MYP e-assessment?

My understanding is that this is brand new (at least it is for us in India.) MYP has existed without the e-assessment for a long time. And IB kids have been going to US colleges without that certificate/assessment for a ver long time.

My personal opinion is that as long as you have grades to show from 9th and 10th and you are doing the IBD you will be able to show that you completed external assessments.

If you are doing IBD that is all they will care about.
