Tim Horton’s has had a $1 Iced Coffee offer that got me hooked. Iced coffee, one sugar, one creamer - indulged twice a week. Decided to try and make my own. Have come up with a pretty good “recipe” but am interested in how others doctor their iced coffee up.

Preface to say, I am not a serious coffee drinker and do not prefer it strong.

Brew a cup of coffee as usual. Add one drop pure vanilla for flavoring. Lightly sugar the coffee as I usually do. Cool. Fill beverage container 3/4 with ice. Pour coffee over ice. Add a splash of half and half and some skim milk. Lightly shake to mix. Delicious!

We’re making iced coffee by the pitcher summertime. Make a pot of coffee, let it cool some and then pour brewed coffee in a pitcher, add a 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk, add 2 or 3 tablespoons of vanilla extract (we’re using imitation), stir and cool in refrig a bit before pouring over a glass filled with ice cubes. Hits the spot when it’s hot outside!

Sweetened condensed milk - that’s interesting! Have to look up the calories/fat in a can - or maybe try 1/2 can??? My son would probably drink that up!

I just let the coffee cool, pour it over ice, and add some half and half. I don’t use sugar, so if I want to sweeten it, I use whatever artificial stuff we have in the house. (I find it acceptable in cold drinks, but not in hot.) If I want to flavor my coffee, I either put some Vietnamese cinnamon in with the ground coffee when I make it, or add a little almond extract to the carafe beforehand.

Some people actually make coffee ice cubes. I don’t find that necessary.

I don’t think of iced coffee as a specialty drink.

I use an aeropress. For iced coffee, I put in 2 scoops of coffee and fill the tube all the way with water and then make the coffee directly into ice. I then add more ice. Much of the first ice melts so I’m essentially making a cold Americano.

To reduce acidity and because I like malt, I sometimes add Ovaltine to the cup - not to the aeropress. Sort of rounds the edges of the coffee with a malted taste. Amount is to taste.

We live in Dunkin Donuts land with a store every few feet. Iced coffee is a staple in our family for summer months (caffeine content varies depending on time of purchase: full strength in AM, decaf if end of the day, and half caf/half decaf for mid-day). It never tastes as good homemade, so we stopped trying and just do a drive through whenever we need a fix. I order it black and then add a few drops (literally!) of half and half. But my daughter has turned me on to iced mocha: they add some chocolate syrup to the black coffee. God only knows what that does to the calorie count, but it’s a nice treat.

I love iced coffee – am drinking a venti iced coffee from Starbucks as we speak. But I can’t be bothered making it when Starbucks does it just fine for my (admittedly non-gourmet) tastes. I just put in skim milk and sweetener.

Apparently DD has free iced coffee on Wednesdays – I was traveling (driving), decided to stop at a DD for one, and lo and behold it cost me nothing – a pleasant surprise.

I put vanilla extract and ground cinnamon in my coffee grounds then brew. Cool and add fat free half and half and some truvia. Tastes like a lot of calories, but it isn’t:)

Iced coffee was my father’s favorite tool for intimidating restaurant personnel.

He would order it in restaurants where it wasn’t on the menu, and the server would say, “I’m sorry, sir. We don’t serve iced coffee.”

Then (while the rest of the family was cringing with embarrassment), he would say, “Do you have coffee?” The server would say yes. Then he would say, “Do you have ice?” The server would say yes and start squirming.

He usually got his iced coffee, but I have no idea what it tasted like.

I have been making it in the Keurig the past few days. Select the small cup size, add half a sweet n low to the bottom of my glass, press brew, add ice then top with skimmed milk.

I sent my d a selection of flavored k cup coffees just before xmas exams. The weird ones came back home last week. I have been using them up, they are delicious as iced coffee. Just had a white mountain blueberry.
