I'd Do Anything

Does anyone here watch the BBC reality series featuring Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Graham Norton, John Barrowman, etc? The show features a dozen or so unknown performers who are vying to be cast in a lead on one of Lloyd-Webber’s upcoming productions. The current entry, which began its run on BBC America this week, is called “I’d Do Anything,” a reference to the show “Oliver!” They are casting the roles of Nancy and Oliver.

I never watch television save for the news and sporting events, but my daughter – who is interested in theater if not musical theater specifically – became addicted to this show a couple years ago. I’ve found myself more than once caught up in the performances of the young actors when I’ve been trying to catch up on some work. Anyway, if you are not familiar with the series here is the website (don’t go there if you want to know the winner):

I haven’t seen it but it sounds like fun. Thanks for the heads-up!

They’ve been doing these series for several years and, actually, I’d Do Anything was done a couple of years ago. The most recent one was earlier this year and was Over the Rainbow. Others have been How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria and Any Dream Will Do.

I watch them occasionally, when not much else is on and BBC is playing them. I especially enjoy the ones with John Barrowman; he’s so much fun! :)
