My Maker Portfolio is a major project I am currently working on.
After February update, where grades are sent to out to colleges I’m applying to, would it be a good idea to send a letter of continued interest to Columbia with and update on activities, AND an update on my maker portfolio, like a PDF attached to the email?
Is this for an RD app to Columbia? Did you submit a maker portfolio with your app? I don’t think they want supplements after the Jan 1 deadline.
What is Columbia’s policy on the submission of supplementary materials (i.e. musical recording, artistic portfolio, science abstract, etc.)?
Architecture, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama and Theatre Arts, Film, Maker, Music and Visual Arts supplements can be submitted through SlideRoom, an online platform that allows applicants to send digital materials to the Committee on Admissions. Do not send CDs, DVDs or hard copies of any materials, as they will not be reviewed. If you have completed academic research with a faculty member or mentor, a short abstract may be uploaded as part of your application. Learn more about supplementary materials.
I talked about it, mentioned and even set it as my mission, a sort of sub theme. Now, showing a robot with my own developed endoscopic tool is in the portfolio, but it hasn’t been implemented yet. In the coming month or two it might be tested. Can I update on that?
I’ll defer to @Mwfan1921 but you have mentioned this already…and it hasn’t been implemented yet. Get it implemented and if you get waitlisted and it’s done…then update. My opinion.
Just to be clear…do not update that it ‘might’ be tested.
If it moves beyond a prototype and/or achieves certain measurable metrics via testing you could update that. Just be judicious in any extras you send along, whether thru the portal or directly to your AO…updates should be reserved for major developments.
