My Daughter is doing her high school through Study Program in san Ramon, California.
Her school doesn’t offer AP courses and she can only take 4 NDC. Out of these 4, 2 will be Arabic language (as it is not offered at her school) and two will be any AP courses.
Now my question is, how she can improve her chances to get into top tier UC school for premed path without lot of AP Courses?
Is there a way around?
Can anyone please guide ?
Does college board courses will help to close this gap ?
Colleges will evaluate your daughter’s application based on what her high school offers. If they don’t offer AP courses, then they won’t expect that your daughter will take them.
Re: premed. Your daughter can take the required courses for medical school applicants at just about any four year college in this country, arts conservatories excluded. And this includes ALL UCs and CSUs as well.
As noted by @thumper1 the UC’s will evaluate your daughter’s application within the context of what is offered at her HS.
If she wants to challenge herself, are dual enrollment courses offered through her HS? Would she be willing to take Community college courses during the summer at her local CC or she can also take AP courses on-line through UC Scout?
She will not be penalized for not taking courses that are not offered at her High school.
Also as noted, do not limit the school list just to UC’s. There are plenty of good schools where a “pre-med” intended student can thrive and do well academically.
