Princeton rejected all the applicants who did any kind of research, and yes, they didnt defer them, they rejected them!

I pity coutney and myself too and many more who worked like hell and got rejected.

Princeton rejected all the applicants who did any kind of research, and yes, they didnt defer them, they rejected them!

That’s an untrue conclusion.

While the rejection was a sure blow, your true character is shown by how you recover from this. Whether you accept this with the maturity a young man should be developing or with the adolescence of an older child is truly telling to the people around you. I encourage you to avoid placing the blame on anyone and just accept the decision. This does not mean you won’t get into any colleges and the chances that you will end up at a good college are very high.

I wish you the best of luck in the rest of your college process.

WindSlicer

second that.

frankly, from what I’ve been reading here, I don’t think you would have been a good match for Pton. All those who are accepted (at least those I know) have a friendly, open personality and most of those who were deferred were disappointed but did not blame Pton for it.

You are really different and you should recognise as a maybe 18 or 19 years old student that whining does not help you. Get on, improve your applications and do what you really LIKE to do. From your post, it seems that you’re doin the research stuff only to get a fantastic CV or to gain reputation for it. If this is true (or maybe your parents force you to do it, I dunno) then you should take into consideration that life is short enough and you’ve already wasted a fith of it.

Do what you like and what satisfies you and setbacks like this one won’t be as hard as you have had fun doin it.

Still don’t have my decision, maybe I am rejected as well - who knows, but I’ve improved my English a lot, and it was fun writing those essays. Of course it was stress, too, but in the end I’ve tried it. I didn’t manage to get in - so what - but personally I know I’ve accomplished a lot, I’ve written a fantastic essay and I’ve competed with the brightest of the brightest on earth. Losing is not a shame, it strengthens our personality and though we don’t like it, we could not interact socially if we were treated as godlike creatures.

Be proud on what you’ve achieved and stop blaming others: Isn’t it much better to believe that you hold your fate in your own hands ? I think it is, but it includes that you are fully self-responsible and thus, defeats are your very own fault.

Just my 2 cents, though.

iam not blaming pton at all, i mean if iam rejected, thyere must b a strong reson for it.

my point is to jus tell u ppl that pton did not even admit a single candidate who did any sort of research, it is a shock, definitely not a mistake.

If you read the ED decisions thread you will find that they did accept people who did research.

and not just a couple!
where did you get the info, gotinhere?

coutney got rejected, isnt that reason enough!

the accepted research ppl must have not sent their papers to pton, they are just doin away with "over-stretched " ppl, and thats perfectly fine!

How do you know that Courtney Sachs was outright rejected? I agree with WindSlicer and btlesgirl, plenty of people got in who’ve done research.

dunno, wat i surely know is that she did sent the research paper, i did it too and one more of my known applicant sent a paper on composite functions and relation of strong forces with gama function.

all three of us are outright rejected!

coutney is rejected, check on google

First of all, I’ll bet you that there’s people with research who got in.
Secondly, who is Courtney Sachs? (pardon my ignorance)
Lastly, referring back to your stats, gotinhere, i don’t think you have quite the adequate stats to get in (1100 SAT, did you take TOEFL?)
And besides, don’t complain. The people on the admissions committee are professors and experienced officers. There is a reason why these people have made Princeton claw its way into the number one college position in the United States.
Welcome to the real world. Accept it, because the truth can be harsh.

i took toefl, 300/300 on cbt.

i took act, 35 composite

700+ page of string theory thesis

23 designs of robotics

now is that a “outrite reject” profile?

except for SAT, everythin was fine as you can see!

I googled Courtney Sachs concerning the rejection and couldn’t find anything.

I would be really surprised if she was rejected, but not particularly shaken up if she was deferred. Courtney was one of the young students featured in New York Magazine as an ED “Super Applicant” (And she had good stats… 2300+ with stem cell research, great grades, etc.). I would guess perhaps all of this went to her head and she wrote bad essays… or perhaps she just wasn’t a fit for Princeton.

If your research shows you jumping to conclusions like you did here (i.e., a non-random sample of 3 = everyone), well . . .

And are you saying that you sent 700 pages of research and expected anyone to read it???

hahahaha ^^

igotinhere, why don’t you post the link which had the info about courtney being rejected

He has lost it somewhere in his 700 pages of string theory…

see if u have ever done a research, u must know a research has 2 major components:

1.) A thesis , a detailed one
2.) a paper, summarising all of it, generally 3-4 pages is best.

my research recieved special felicitation from IIT Kanpur (best of all IITs) which happens the 3rd best university for technology in thw world.

also iam plannin it to send to verlinde.

have worked with with Prof. Brian Flanagan as an intern for summer.

Most of the research done by kids of our age is copied. I know how ethical IIT professors are.
Even if your research work was original(which i doubt) that doesn’t means that you were a match for p’ton.

ya mebbe

abhishiv, actually string theory is a topic everybody has his own point of view, so it not a copy, its big diagram filled, equation filled, award winning masterpiece, am i boastin, then sorry but i am ;)

i think iam not a good match for it…huh…wat damn luck i have! only 100 rejected, and i am one of those!

If I’m recalling correctly, but isn’t getinhere also arihant23?
better not start that butt load of crap again.
But yeah, to answer your question, getinhere, unfortunately this year Princeton is not interested in string theory and 23 “who knows what” robot designs.
Lol, no offense.

haha DavidAlex. and seriously, I did research and i was deferred. yes, this is not an ACCEPTANCE, but i wasnt outright rejected…you might want to check your stats again before making such a generalized statement
