I'll probably be out of touch for a while after Thursday

My thoughts exactly, twinmom. I hope she won’t be released unless or until there are adequate supportive services in place, either professionals or friends.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you today, Donna! I’m thrilled you are coming along so well. That’s just the best.

Thanks for being such a faithful, reliable information conduit, VeryHappy :)

What a positive turn of events!

Wonderful news!!!

More positive thoughts aimed your way to help you get well soon, Donna. You are missed.

I am so impressed with you, Donna. I admire you so much for being able to deal with all this so gracefully and with such strength!

That’s wonderful! (And many thanks to VeryHappy for keeping us all informed).

So glad I checked-in for more great news!

But I second all those who posted before me with the hope that Donna will have the support she needs once at home.

Hi Donna. Glad you’re doing so well. What a wonderful turn of events.

Wooohooo!!

hi all. sorry i havent posted. pda almost non-functional. wheel and up and down buttons mostly broken. i tried to write 2 long posts today; both just vanished when i tried to submit them. argh. more than an hour wasted.

so just will say thank you again esp to vh and also jnsq, things continue to go in right direction, solid food tolerated and ecstatically enjoyed but eaten very slowly since last night. first meal soft roll piece of chicken some rice oh heaven i know it’s corny but i started crying as soon as tray was put in front of me so happy so grateful for having this chance, this privilege again after 15 days without food. i made it last an hour, to be careful but also to prolong experience. iv pole disconnected today so now untethered at last. tomorrow if all goes well they discharge me around noon im arranging for car service to take me to nj. they will i hope understand i cant lift or carry my things by myself hey i can hardly walk at this point esp with no iv pole to hang onto. a little nervous but i’ve been gone 19 days now, more than long enough to spend in three hospitals plus 8 hour ambulance ride. want to go home want to see ziggy my cat i think he’ll still recognize mommy despite all the weight loss! my former spouse who’s been feeding him since james left kindly offered to buy a few things for refrigerator so not completely empty, after that i think a few supermarkets in nj deliver online orders. i’m relying on that, since I dont think driving will be good idea for a while, and most of my friends live in city and dont have cars. anyway, im hoping third time trying to post here today is charm here goes.

Looks like success with both your post and your recovery! I’m sure you’ll heal even faster at home. Thanks for updating us.

This is all such wonderful news, what a difference from last week!
Please be careful with everything Donna, a full recovery and regaining your strength is most important, but it looks as though you have everything under control regarding your discharge.
I’m sure James feels so much better now too, and Ziggy will be thrilled to see you!

Donna, this is fabulous. I have goosebumps reading about your dinner. Can’t imagine how precious this all is to you. Have the docs actually done anything medically for you, or has your time at Mt. Sinai been largely “let’s see if this resolves on its own without intervention?”

Your will and determination have triumphed yet again. Getting home will be even better medicine. Hope you can get a health aide to come to your house for a week or two to help with showering, basic task, etc. til you are stronger.

three hospitals and three posts… three seems to be your lucky number, as the third time ends up being the charm.

Yea, Donna! Great news. I’m so grateful to VeryHappy for visiting you on behalf of all of us, and to you for keeping us in the loop. PLEASE make sure you ask for the help you need! Don’t try to be a heroine. (You are one, of course, but still!)

Great to read of your continued progress, Donna. Here’s a “virtual hospital visit” from halfway across the country!

Checking in from China, and just thrilled with your progress, Donna! And so thankful that VH could stand in for the rest of us!! Please take it slowly Donna. I know you are smart and wise and extremely capable, but please take everything at about half the speed you want to!

Donna, hope it all goes smoothly today and that you are discharged if Mt. Sinai thinks you are ready. Sounds like you need to give yourself a bit of time to regain steadiness on your feet. Maybe you can order some pre-made dinners-just something to heat up for a few days until you regain your strength. Wonderful news overall!

Very quickly – home! Happy. Sharing slice of turkey with Ziggy. Tired. Thank you all.

Love, Donna

HOORAY! There’s no place like home. May its familiar comforts, and Ziggy, speed the healing process.
