I have also followed that other thread, and others, and have a great deal of admiration for you, your bravery, and your wonderful relationship with your son.
Adding my very best wishes to you for a speedy recovery.

You’re in all of our thoughts, Donna! Keep recovering, fast and well. :)

Donna, just checking in to let you know that you’re still in my thoughts and prayers. Rest well and heal quickly.:)

Hey,
This is Donna’s son, James. While Donna was fine immediately following the surgery, her condition worsened shortly thereafter. Donna believes that the decision to remove her from her IV prematurely, considering her Crohn’s disease, and the aggravation of a heavy diet including such foods as meat lasagna, is at least partially responsible for what followed. With her blood count at 97, the decision was made on Thursday to give her a blood transfusion and put her back in the plastic surgeon’s hospital from the recovery clinic. She was unable to take nutrition by mouth, suffering from vomiting and diarrhea, and in general awful shape. On Thursday night, Donna’s friend Catherine and I drove to Montreal. While at first we were unsure about the cause of the issue, we contacted Donna’s gastroenterologist in New York City, which led to another doctor, head of the practice, coming in, who said to rush Donna to the emergency room. Donna was rushed on Sunday to the emergency room at Sacre Couer Hospital in NW Montreal. There, they discovered that she had an occlusion/inflammation of the anastomosis (remaining area of the large intestine) and a possible mechanical obstruction of the small intestine. She was suffering from intractable hiccuping, which they were able to relieve by means of a tube from the nose to the stomach, and she is currently on IV and in stable condition, and not suffering, if very weak. She is no better and no worse. She saw a gastroenterologist today who said that typically, with Crohn’s, they wait five days to see if surgery is necessary, but that they may move her by ambulance from Montreal to Mt. Sinai in New York City, which can be arranged, as this is Donna’s preference, if she does not suddenly improve - if things stay the same or worsen. Obviously, I hope that everything will improve - which I have confidence that it will, even if some form of surgery is necessary, as well as transportation to New York, and am remembering that the situation is under control. Donna wants all your prayers and good karma, and good wishes, to help her get better.
James.

James - thank-you for the update. I have been kind of worried since Donna has not posted in a while. You hang on tight. This must be very difficult for you. Give Donna our best wishes. Let us know if you need anything.

James, thanks for the message. I’m so sorry things have taken such a scary turn. Please know, and let your mom know, that people here are sending her all the good wishes/good thoughts they possibly can. We’re pulling for Donna in a big way.

James,

Thanks so much for checking in, I was wondering how things were progressing since Donna’s initial post-op post. No reason to think this temporary set back cannot be overcome though I am certain it is scary being under the care of docs who don’t know you as well. It sounds like they have at least gotten it diagnosed properly…so that’s good.

Prayers going up and keep us updated. Thanks again for letting us know.

James, thanks for letting us know what is going on. Please let your mother know that I am sending my best wishes, and good karma. I’ll pray too. James you sound like a wonderful son and I am sure it is great comfort for her to have you there.

Adding my prayers and good wishes to your mom, and you. I’ve been checking in every day and was concerned. Gosh, what a scare. As a former Mtl resident, I know she is in good hands at Sacre Coeur. I hope she feels better very soon.

Sending prayers, good karma and good wishes for a positive turn…either that it works itself out or that Donna has the surgery…It is an anxious time but please try to remain positive. She must be very glad that you are there. Really appreciate your effort to update Donna’s friends on this forum. I’m sure she also is glad that you did that for her. All good wishes…

Just adding thanks for taking the time to update us-- and best wishes for a safe, uneventful recovery!

James, thanks so much for updating us during this very stressful time. We’re all sending positive thoughts/energy Donna’s way.
