I'll probably be out of touch for a while after Thursday

James,
Thank you for taking the time to send along this update. I think we were all concerned when we did not hear from your mother for several days. Please pass along my best wishes for a full recovery and, if you are able, continue to let us know how she is doing. It must be a great comfort to her to have you there.

Thanks for posting, James. I have been looking for updates and keeping the prayers going.

I’m new to this thread … Donna is indeed a brave lady, and my heart nearly stopped when I read James’ last post. I hope Donna’s condition has improved by now. In the meantime, I will continue to send thoughts and prayers to this special family. xxoo

James - please continue to let Donna know she is in our wishes, and thank you for posting.

Adding my good wishes and prayers for you and Donna, James. Thanks for keeping us posted.

James- Thank you for the update on Donna’s condition. I am praying for her and for you through this tough time.

Pipmom

James, thanks so much for letting us know. It’s wonderful that you are able to be there with your mother, and that her doctor in NYC knows what’s going on. Continued best wishes and prayers for her speedy recovery.

Hi James,
Nice to meet you! Prayers, good karma and vibes going Donna’s and your way. I join others in hoping she will be all better and getting in touch with us soon.

(that Crohn’s is a b****! Very tricky to deal with.)

Anyway, big hugs from rainy Mainey. XXOO

James, please give your mother my best wishes. She is so brave, and we all wish her complete recovery from these recent complications, as well as a chance to live the life she was meant to live.

james is the best son ever he doesnr call me his mom you know it doesnt mattter we love each orher so, dad is just a 3 letter nongendered word it means i love you he knows who i am and besides he has a Mom already!. he and my friend had to leave on monday they drove home down the thruway the adirondacks are so beautiful he wants me to go there wirh him next summer when im bettwr and just sit and look at the lakes and mountains id love that very much. zo im by myself here inthis hospital emerrgency room where they brought me on sunday some people speak english but it is hard when you cant really move or do for yourself and you ask for a bedpan and somebody has no idea what you want, oy. i try to sleep its hard mostly i watch the iv in my arm and the catheter ( whenenever they finally take it out i sure hope i can figure out how to pee without a you know what ive never done that before and there’s nobody from my surgeon’s clinic around anymore to explain) and i watch liter after liter of green sludge go out of my nasal gastric tube which is way better than the alternative namely just vomiting it 20 times a day like i was before they brought me here at least they have gi people here but my small bowel still isnt moving so no improvement sorry for typos love you all thank you more later donna

Donna,
Sending you warmest wishes that your recovery will be quick and easy – right now!

Good luck to you Donna!

Donna,
It will be easier … you won’t have to aim! Feel better very soon.

Hope you will be feeling better soon! Sending hugs through the screen!

Donna, the fact that you even managed to post that update is a testament to your resilience. I’m sure that quality will help speed your recovery.

Donna, big hugs to you and your son (what a wonderful young man he is!). Hope your intestines will heal soon.

james is very brave but hes so scared he calls me and i say please dont be so scared i wish he were here and could just climb into my arms like when he was little.

i am scared too but not like before i came here at least im stable and continually being monitorerd and tested. before, i was pretty sure i wasnt going to make it unless something changed soon abd it did and james and my friend and other people made that happen. besides i still have one great pleasure in life that i think about all day so that means im not ready to go yet, right? its the incredible joy of ice chips. all i can have by mouth. but so lovely. the individual explosions in my mouth are as delicious as anything imaginable, they spray against the tube in my throat and relieve the pain crunch crunch bounce trickle o joy! until theyre gone and then i lie there craving more and wondering if it’s time yet. but every moment im allowed to have them is a blessing and makes life worth living plus i want to see my son again and have a cold crisply carbonated glass of ginger ale preferably schweppes or canady dry with maybe a nice piece of rye bread with cream cheese with no pain after before i die so thats a lot to look forward to please remember how lucky you are to live a day with no pain with your loved ones ive had so much pain i try never to take those days for granted but its hard even for me to appreciate always whats most important. anyway sorry dont mean to be maudlin or morbid its easy to let your mind wander here! dont worry people are trying to figure out if my insurance will pay to take me by ambulance tomorrow or friday to mt sinai in nyc where all my gi drs are because the way things are done here theyre waiting to the weekend for improvement and then the next step is surgery to find the obstruction and i cant cant go through more surgery in montreal ill die here if that happens i have to get home so please send me some good cosmic energy to help all i want is to be brought home safe to mt sinai . just talked to james he finally got contact lenses today i hope it cheers him up! my cat misses me i miss him very much i wish he were curled up next to me i wouldnt be so lonely. btw the surgery itself seems to be healing fine but havent had nuch chance yet to appreciate whole gestalt of it yet for obvious reasons and doing the necessary aftercare here without any help is extremely difficult and stressful not a lot of mobility or strength my guess is ive lost 10 or 15 pounds already and i only weighed 115 to begin with and when they had me stand for xray this morning i almost fell right over. ok sorry didnt mean to complain so much thx for all good wishes much appreciated. love donna

It’s OK to complain when you’re feeling bad. I really hope you get to Mt. Sinai soon- your GI docs will be of great help. And it should be more comfortable for you since you’ll be near home and others who can visit you more easily. Keep thinking about rye bread and cream cheese- there will be plenty waiting for you in NYC. The best rye bread in the world!

Keep your chin up, baby! I know the prospect of another surgery is not appealing, but the obstruction has to go. I’ll be praying for you and for the docs in whose care you are.

Love, Pipmom

Hugs to you, Donna. And lots of virtual ice chips!

Oh, Donna, I just checked the thread to see if you had checked in yet and what an explosion of events did I find!

Just hold on. You are an incredibly strong person with everything to live for, including a wonderful son. I know it must be hard what with the disorienting atmosphere of intensive care, the language barrier, the pain, the drugs, the loneliness and everything else, but you ARE going to make it home and get better. Just being where people can visit you will be a big help.

We will all redouble the positive energy we beam your way.
