if you were to get assigned a roommate but turns out that they have been in jail before for burglary… will they change ur roomate ?

**1. I’m an out of state student so I’m going to orientation in august. It turns out those two days of orientation are during the week of rush. Will i still be able to join a sorority or will i get in trouble for skipping the first day of orientation?
2. Are any of the sports teams good?
3. Are you supposed to have a list of classes you want to take before you get to orientation? I’m majoring in chemistry…
4. How far away is the beach? =] **

1) You will get in trouble, not to mention that orientation will last the whole day. You can still change your date off the website iirc if you want to do rush (I know almost nothing about rush week).
2) This is kind of a hit or miss subject. You’ll get people saying the football team is amazing and others saying they are horrible. I know that the “less known” sports are a lot better than the mainstream ones at UCF.
3) Nope, they go over requirements and possible classes the second day of orientation and how to do it over myucf. I wish you luck for getting into Chemistry. I snagged a spot but unless they changed it, there is like… 1 Chemistry I class and they tell you during orientation it has a high failure chance. If the class is full keep your eyes on the class like a hawk.
4) You’re basically always no more than 1 hour from the beach in Florida. Don’t worry.

That would be a very interesting predicament haha. Um… I want to say they would if you sent in your room change request the first week of school. If that’s really your roommate you may want to ask him/her/it about it. They might be a new person now considering they are going to pursue higher education, even with their past.

My daughter, a rising Junior, did rush and is in a sorority at UCF. You cannot miss any of the rush days and still do rush. You will most likely get cut from rush (not get asked back to any houses). You could do COB, which is basically, any sorority that does not fill its quota (for whatever reason) can solicite potential new members after rush (in September) but then you are limited to whichever sororities did not make quota. There is also a spring recruitment for any sorority that has open space (like seniors who graduated in December). This is also much more informal. If you really want to do the entire normal recruitment week, you should fly in and do orientation earlier in the summer.

Do you have to be there every minute of orientation? I honestly don’t see why it’s that long…

@seiclan

Thanks Rush is a very… foreign topic for me

**Do you have to be there every minute of orientation? I honestly don’t see why it’s that long… **

Yep, it will last that long and you’ll just really have to tough it out. I remember even some of the people giving directions and such said that it’s rough to go those two days. You’re going to be exposed to “everything” you need to know to make sure everyone starts off on the same page, so if you want to ameliorate the future boredom I recommend you don’t read too much into grades and such :)

Peacemker & Moksha,

Do they deposit at the beginning (after they deduct all charges) or end of the semester?

What are my chances of getting into UCF as an OOS student with a 3.3 and a 1980SAT/27ACT?

**What are my chances of getting into UCF as an OOS student with a 3.3 and a 1980SAT/27ACT? **

I’m not any good with chances, but if you have some good ECs I am sure you’ll get in. If you you can get your GPA up a little more you’ll have an almost guaranteed chance.

You mentioned somewhere that if we were concerned with safety, to go with the Towers. Does that mean AV isn’t safe?

I’m transferring to UCF this coming semester as a junior and I’m taking six classes. Most of them are 10 minutes apart. DO you think I’ll have enough time to get to all my classes on time?

BIG APOLOGIES!
Sorry, I was visiting family out of the country I just got back

**

I think that question was referring to off campus vs towers iirc.
But if that’s not the case then my apologies. AV is safe and I never worried about being there the whole year.

If they are across campus you will run a little late. I remember one of my classes was 10 minutes apart and I had to sprint walk to get a little late.
You SHOULD be able to make it if you hurry (walk, don’t drive from garage to garage) but you should not be too too late.

Hi! i was wondering what u think would be my chances of getting into UCF? Im currently a junior with a 3.8 weighted GPA…3.4 unweighted and a 3.5 academic GPA…i am involved in a lot of clubs…250+ service hours…I have taken about 5 honors courses and will be taking about 5 more my senior year. I have taken the ACT twice…i got a 17 on my first try and a 19 on the second time…I think a 19 could possibly ruin my chances of getting in…what do you think?

andreina42- you should take the test again and try the SAT too. Your scores are too low for UCF (but your grades are fine). UCF wants to see about an 1140 M/CR SAT. Last year, kids with your current scores were deferred from UCF on the first round. IDK if they got in later though.

Just to add to what seiclan said about SAT scores… my son had a 1190 on his SAT score, and a 3.94 GPA, he got deferred, but a month later got accepted in for the summer term when he sent in his 2nd semester grades that were also all A’s.

thanks for the advice :)

Dnt believe all that you hear about nursing. Some people are actually trying to scare you b/c they themselves are scared. There is no problem with getting prereqs done–IF you have planned out your sememsters, which you should. Always double check with the College of Nursing to make sure you are on trak so that you dnt end up takin a class that you don’t need. There are alot of applicant yes, ad you do need a 3.0 to apply. BUt if you get A’s and B’s (mostly A’s hopefully, if not thats cool too) you WILL BE FINE! We are moving from the main campus (HPA I) to a location on research parkway. THe shuttle runs there if you don;t have car, but it take appx 45 min. But you just gotta work on ur prereqs for now.lol

I lived in LC for sum. 07 and fall/spr 08. I liked it. You have a twin bed, and you share a bathroom with one other person. You have a kitchen and a living room. It’s not extravagant, but when you add a little decor, some plants, and some personal items from home, it becomes your own. When you walk into the apt, the living room is the first thing you see. On the right is the kitchen, which has a window to the living room (for entertaining i guess, lol). You have a window in your room, so if you want to feel the breeze of the orlando sky you can.(when it’s not raining, lol). There are no elevators though, so it is safe to say, that no lazies life in LC. You have your own room with a desk, a dresser, closet space, and the be is high, so you can store things under it to save space. It really nice, but it is what you make it.:)

All places on campus are safe. Now saftey in regards to knowing that you will always ahave a place to live sounds more like what you mean. The Towers I see has lots of out-of-state students, b/c it is the only residence on UCF that allows you to stya thru breaks. So like if you couldn’t go home for ALL of christmas break, for example, then you could still stay in the TWR w/o any additional charge. :)

What do the inside of AV 4/2 apartments look like? Are there fans? Should I bring lamps? What kind of stove is it?
