The AV apartments are similar to the Lake Claire ones. My daughter lived there for summer B of her freshman year. There are no fans so bring one for either a desktop or to clip onto your headboard. I would definitely bring a desk lamp and maybe a floor lamp, since the overhead lighting is brutal (flourescent type). The stove is a typical 4 burner electric range type. Bring a plastic 4 drawer unit to put your toiletries, hairdryer, and “stuff” in since there is very little storage space in the vanity area of the bathroom.

Here is a link to photos of my daughter’s Nike apartment room.

I am quite curious about the buses/shuttles that run on campus. As of right now, I’m not bringing a car to school next year. How reliable are the shuttles that run around the main circle? How often do they come to each stop? Also, if I have a class off Research Dr. in the tech center, how long would it take to take to get there via bus/shuttle? Thanks :)

**Hi! i was wondering what u think would be my chances of getting into UCF? Im currently a junior with a 3.8 weighted GPA…3.4 unweighted and a 3.5 academic GPA…i am involved in a lot of clubs…250+ service hours…I have taken about 5 honors courses and will be taking about 5 more my senior year. I have taken the ACT twice…i got a 17 on my first try and a 19 on the second time…I think a 19 could possibly ruin my chances of getting in…what do you think? **

Yeah, just as others have said if you get your ACT or SAT score up you’re basically in.

I never took the buses since I had a car
I personally stuck to walking around the campus. This link may be able to help you more

Thanks for the answers from before…does anyone know what the flooring is in a 4/2 apartment in the Academic Village?

Moksha, no, what the actual floor is lol. Like tile, linoleum or carpet. But thanks!

Can you tell me what class sizes are like? I know they would vary based on the class but is there an average? This would be for a transfer student, junior year so all the basic classes would be done. Classes would be in writing, literature, journalism (along those lines since major is still undecided).

Another question:
If living off campus, I assume a car is necessary? I haven’t seen the campus yet but based on its size, I am guessing there aren’t a ton of off campus houses that are within walking distance of most classes. Assuming a car is necessary, is there any type of priority parking available over commuters or are you in the general parking area?

Thanks!!

Hi. I am going into my senior year this August. I am hispanic, currently have a cumulative 3.3 weighted, 3.0 unweighted. I am, however currently doing grade forgiveness for two classes, that will replace the two D’s that I have ever gotten in my life. My SAT scores were: 550 reading, 570 math, 550 writing. I took three years of spanish and passed the AP spanish exam with a 5. I took American History dual enrollment at my local community college. Senior year I am taking Precalc, Physics, Engineering Technology, and Dual Enrollment english 4, along with two other electives. I don’t have many extra curriculars. I was on the JV football team freshmen year, that’s pretty much it. If I have to I am willing to start the summer of 2011, right after I graduate, since it is easier to get in and I really want to go to UCF. Do you think I will be fine? I am a bit nervous.

Oh XD, my bad. I’m going to go with carpet then.

a. English classes in general are fairly small. I can’t speak for a junior student but all my English classes were- I’d say- 25 students max. I remember my English professor saying the school hired a lot of English teachers to keep the class sizes down, but again, I can’t really say much for upper classmen.
b. You don’t really need it still if the off campus housing has a shuttle taking you to and from school. Double check that the place you are interested in has that commodity. And there are plenty of off campus places around the school, you only need to go down Alafaya Trail to see that.

You still have a chance. But for senior year I would try to get in at least a few more ECs and get higher SAT scores to show UCF you’re serious about attending. Is this grade D for the semester though?

Yes, I got two semester D’s junior year, but I am replacing those grades. You think that I should re-take the SAT’s, even to get in during the summer? What about just doing the ACT? I do plan on joining a few clubs when I get back to school, to at least get something on my resume.

Hey everyone, I’m in an interesting situation. I am engaged and both my fiance and I are looking for and affordable and safe living arrangement to go to UCF. We’ve looked at several apartments that seemed pretty decent but were 15mins plus from UCF. The main problem I am having with student off campus housing is most would charge us each separately for rent, when we would be living together and sharing a room. Does anyone know of any cheap apartments that are either 1 bedroom 1 bath or a off campus living that allows for the two of us to share one room without paying twice for rent. thanks

Do you know what kind of notebook paper is used (wide ruled vs. college ruled)? Or does it not matter?

Hopefully the new grades’ll show on your transcript. I’m not sure how youre school works though. But yeah, I would retake the SAT and score higher. Better safe than sorry. The ACT is another option as a lot of people say it’s easier. I personally found the SAT easier but I’m weird.

@UCFLivinginfo
I honestly can’t help you there as off campus housing 15+ minutes from me is quite outside my purview.

**Do you know what kind of notebook paper is used (wide ruled vs. college ruled)? Or does it not matter? **
If you are going to turn in work, it basically has to be typed. If you are talking about personal note taking it doesn’t matter.

How are the UCF football games? Are they fun? We have only attended Big 10 games. Curious if the games are popular among students.

Okay, I have a question about admissions and applications. When did you apply and how big of a difference does it make when applying in the summer before senior year as opposed to applying in fall? Did you apply for summer or fall? Do you think the essay made a big difference? Sorry for all the questions, I sent in my application to ucf on monday and am a bit anxious…

And yes they are.

I applied in December, around the 16th iirc.
From my understanding, at least this is “true” for UF, that the earlier you apply the more serious your application is going to seem about getting admissions. So, I guess if you apply real early as you just did, then I would say you already have the application in your favor all things equal.
I applied for Fall, but I believe the summer is easier to get into and I would say the essay is important, but not as important as GPA or ECs. Then again, I’m not the admissions office so I don’t really know how much they weigh the essay.

^ thank you, because a friend of mine just called admissions office and they apparently told him that they would start reviewing his application in october, but on the ucf website it indicates that application status would be revealed within 3 weeks.

How far is Valencia Community college from UCF?

**How far is Valencia Community college from UCF? **
Like 11 or 12 miles? It’s about 20+ minutes.
I’ve only passed there once though.
