I'm going crazy!

I was nominated for the Milken Family Foundation Scholarship by my school a couple of months ago (as some of you already know) and applied. According to the web site, semi-finalists were supposed to be notified by May 1st. I still haven’t heard back, and now I’m feeling like I didn’t get it (which really sucks, because I don’t have any other scholarship prospects, and I feel like all my hard work was wasted because I just can’t seem to get a scholarship or any sort of recognition for all the killer work I’ve been doing for the past four years). However, a student in the Fin. Aid forum says they got notified today, and I just sent MFF an email. So now I’m waiting for a response. Any suggestions of how to get my mind off the waiting? I mean I know no response is better than a “sorry, it’s not you”, but sometimes it’s the same thing.

GAH. I have to read Plato’s Republic for my Philosophy class tomorrow…maybe I’ll go do that. Should keep me busy for a while.

Just try to find something fun to think about…start a packing list for what you’re going to take with you to college, or list out all the things you want to do this summer before you leave home!

I just can’t seem to get my mind to stop thinking about it. I was reading Plato’s Republic and that helped for a while because I didn’t understand a word of it…XD

Then I was playing Tetris on Yahoo Games, which helped a little (I got farther than I’ve ever gotten before :))…but I just don’t know what to do.

I feel like there’s no point in even applying for awards/scholarships anymore, and every time I get nominated for this stuff I just want to be like “Thanks, but no thanks.” I’m tired of the disappointment.

It’s an honor to be nominated for the kinds of opportunities that you’ve been nominated for. However, most of the many applicants to such opportunities are outstanding students just as you are, so always view a win as a long shot. Do your best with your app, but view it as a lottery ticket, not a sure thing.
