He’s married, owns a house and is way into sports. Loves ultimate frisbee and plays DnD, which I know nothing about. Has two dogs, no kids. Does the NYT puzzles every day and recently started getting back into reading, right now a sci-fi series.
I could always get him a restaurant gift card. All ideas welcome.
Subscriptions (online) to The Athletic (NY Times sports section) or The Atlantic, if he would like that. I always vote consumables – does he love chocolate, or hot sauce, or beer? Is money tight? If yes, then something for his house or yard?
Oh, I like The Athletic subscription idea! I’ll ask his wife whether he has one.
Budget is variable. I’d rather not spend a lot as I just bought his wife a ridiculously expensive rice cooker for her graduation, plus I’ve got two weddings in the next month. My gift-giving budget is getting stretched!
If your DS drives a car or truck, he might like this gift of a modern jump starter that I gave my son last year. (I saw it recommended on NYT’s Wirecutter.) He not only thanked me for it at the time – he has mentioned actually using it!
I just sent my son freezer meat from snake river farms (he lives alone and gets delivery too much, crazy hours but works hybrid and enjoys cooking) and a nice bottle of bourbon, he turned 27.
That’s what I do when my mil wants to give me a gift. I tell her I just bought something and she can contribute. Pays for part of the gift and she doesn’t have to shop
