I want to go and play tennis right now, but my (close) friends refuse to, for (what I feel are) stupid reasons.

One of my friends said no because she has to finish her chemistry lab - which, by the way, shouldn’t take more than an hour - and isn’t due until wednesday (and we have block schedule, so tomorrow’s hw wouldn’t have to be done until thursday).

Another one said she has to study for two quizzes she has on Friday, and for the SAT’s which she’s taking in October (more than a month away, I must add)

And a third wants to finish all her homework due Wednesday, so she “can’t afford to waste an hour” (exactly what she said).

I mean, I understand why they’d want to finish early, and start studying earlier, but I’m only asking them for an hour.

I feel like school is taking up too much of a priority in our lives. And college acceptances. What happened to having fun?

Does anybody else feel the same way? All I want is some stress-free time, but none of my friends want to hang out with me. It makes me sad.

Maybe you should sign up at a tennis club, I know that around here each community has a “tennis club” where people get together to play tennis. The mentality right now is to work hard to be successful, and I suppose that rules out that little moment of stress-free time.

Well actually I do play sports, that’s not really an issue. I actually want to join tennis club, haha, except ALL CLUBS AT OUR SCHOOL MEET ON THURSDAYS AND FRIDAYS. Well not all, but everything I want to join. So I have to choose 2-3, which means I probably won’t be able to join tennis club.

But we just had a three day weekend, and spent it doing homework, so I wanted a break.

I have friends who’d love to play! But they all live far away…unfortunately, none of us can drive yet, so we have to bike everywhere.
