Immersion blender

Ok…spin off thread.

I got a Cuisinart immersion blender today at BBB. $29.99 after applying the 20% off coupon.

Thing really puréed my butternut squash soup…in less than a minute…a full stockpot full.

But tomorrow I need to exchange it, because the lock function to keep it on did NOT work.

Hoping number two works.

Will BB&B take it back, or will you need to deal with Cuisinart?

Do they actually do that at BBB? I would insist on a return. They can hassle with Cuisinart if they wish.

I bought it today. I can return it to BBB saying I didn’t like it. But really, I’m going to ask for an exchange. I’ve never had a problem exchanging at BBB before. I have the receipt…I have the item in the original packaging…and I’m well within their window of return time policy.

You don’t want to return it to BB&B without telling them there’s a problem with it.

I’m going to tell them there is a problem. When you return, you have to complete a form and I intend to be honest. I want to exchange this for one that works.

VH… not dealing with a warranty issue. I’m dealing with a product I bought and it doesn’t work. BBB allows returns…it’s going back.

Not gonna lie…I thought you were going to discuss the little get togethers at colleges that are held for prospective students of color, or even at the more well-seasoned-at-being-diverse campuses, a meet-up of students across different self-identifiers to let prospectives see what the social environment may be like.

Guess I processed * immersion mixer *.

But, to your issue, I’d just tell the people at BBB about the problem and let them know you need an exchange. I would think with such quick turnaround on your part they would have no issue with your having used the blender.

Love my immersion blender. This is weird, but I use it for deviled eggs. I like to pipe the yoke into the eggs with a pretty pastry tip, and it has to be perfectly smooth to do that, so I hit it with my immersion blender, and when I’m done, I just run the blender in a bowl of hot soapy water…instant clean up. Love my immersion blender for lobster bisque, too.

We returned a Cuisinart and it’s replacement when it would not hold a charge from the getgo. I’ve had a corded model (Kitchenaid, I think) since.

Far be it from me to hijack this thread, but given that it’s title couldn’t be more appropriate, and is a lot broader than the OP’s specific question, I expect to appreciate it when other participants mention whether their experience with specific brands and models has been good, bad, or indifferent.

@LBowie my Cuisinart ks corded…not cordless.

Absolutely…mention other brands because if number 2 Cuisinart doesn’t work…I’m getting another brand!

In the case of a defect, they should exchange it, no questions asked.

As a PSA, an immersion blender that doesn’t lock is a safer tool. You are less likely to absentmindedly remove it from the pot while it’s still whirring and splatter thick hot liquid far and wide. Or catch a finger in the mechanism, which is not as farfetched as you might think.

Purely anecdotally, the Cuisinart model–same as yours-- I purchased for S and GF doesn’t have a problem, and neither does mine, which is essentially the same.

Sorry you got a lemon! I’m sure the next one will be fine.

Ours is corded too. We got it as a Christmas gift some years ago and mainly use it for butternut squash soup as well. :-). Offhand can’t remember what the brand. Have seen it at Costco with lots of attachments at what I’m assuming are good prices, including just recently.

I’ve had a corded Kitchenaid for about 6-7 years now. Love it! Never had a problem with it.

My immersion blender is FINE.duh…you can’t lock it ON for safety reasons. The unclick is so you can turn it on…period. Again for child safety reasons.

BBB didn’t bat an eyelash. The guy even told me I could, get a different one of the same model if I wanted to. Or I could have gotten the totally SS one…which was $25 more expensive…or the Braun…which was $99.

Anyway…I felt stupid…but the thing works well…and the price was right.

Huh. Who knew. Glad it works and you’re happy.

I know! Who knew? When it said “lock” I wrongly thought it meant you could lock it so it stayed on.

But really…I did a huge stockpot of butternit squash apple curry soup in about a minute!

Thumper, I have to admit that I was puzzled by why you would even want to “lock” the immersion blender on.

But glad it’s working for you.

I probably have an earlier version of the same type you have - purchased 2 or 3 years ago, hardly ever used – but when I do use it, it’s wonderful. But it really only does take a minute at most to blend just about anything.

I was wondering whether you were trying to do something peculiar with it, but I didn’t want to insult you by suggesting it! Glad all is well.
