immunizations!!! where did you get them?

Hey, i just got an email saying i’m missing my meningitis and tetanus shots (although i definitely had the tetanus shot before). So i called up student health and scheduled an appointment to get the shots. Bill= 200+ dollars…
I was like ok, do you take insurance. And they do, but they do not take my insurance (Aetna, but not student aetna). I called my insurance and they said that i can’t file a claim cuz it’s out of network.

So if anyone got their immunizations around here, where did you get them? I really don’t wanna pay 200$ for 2 shots.

Are you sure you are missing the shots??? If not call home. They just need proof from your doctor that you had them. If you didn’t find a doctor nearby that takes your insurance and you can get them for the price of your copay. Aetna must have a website that will help you find a doctor in the area that is in network, if not call them and they will help you find one over the phone. A taxi to the doctor will be cheaper than $200.00

Check with the Charlottesville Health Department.

Hi, Wally.

You can also check Prompt Care (at Seminole Square) or First Med (at Pantops). They may take your insurance. You might also call The Charlottesville Wellness Ctr (located on Preston Avenue), that is where my family goes for all immunizations:).

Alright cool!
Thanks everyone… i will check out your suggestions :)

FYI: you can sign waivers saying that you understand the risk of not getting the shots but have elected to do so anyways. I had to do this because I got the extended meningitis shot but they didn’t “accept” that shot, even though my doc said it was the same thing. You can just do one of those for tetanus since you know you got it. Meningitis you should definitely get, regardless, unless you know you’ve had the longer version.
